Network-reachable command endpoint with low complexity and only read-level auth (PR:L); privilege bypass escalates beyond the initial database to full server admin, so S:C with full C/I/A impact.

ArcadeDB server (com.arcadedb:arcadedb-server) in versions 26.7.3 and earlier fails to propagate the authenticated principal to asynchronous command worker threads. When an HTTP command is submitted with awaitResponse:false, it executes on an async worker whose DatabaseContext has no bound user, causing the scripting authorization gate to become a no-op. A user with only read access to a single database can submit an asynchronous JavaScript (language=js) command via the /api/v1/command endpoint to run code with unrestricted host access (e.g., database.getSecurity().createUser) and create a server-wide administrator, escalating to full administrative control. Fixed in 26.8.1.
AnalysisAI
Privilege escalation in ArcadeDB server (versions 26.7.3 and earlier) allows a low-privileged authenticated user with read-only access to a single database to gain full server-wide administrative control. The flaw stems from the server failing to bind the authenticated principal to asynchronous command worker threads, so a JavaScript command submitted with awaitResponse:false runs with no user context and bypasses the scripting authorization gate entirely. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Exploitation requires valid ArcadeDB credentials with at least read access to one database (PR:L), and the server must expose the HTTP /api/v1/command endpoint with JavaScript scripting (language=js) reachable over the network. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | This is a genuine high-priority issue rather than an inflated CVSS score. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | An attacker holding only read-only credentials to a single ArcadeDB database sends an HTTP POST to /api/v1/command with language=js and awaitResponse:false, embedding JavaScript that calls database.getSecurity().createUser to provision a new server-wide administrator. Because the async worker runs with no bound user, the scripting authorization check is bypassed and the malicious command executes with unrestricted host access. … |
| Remediation | Vendor-released patch: upgrade to ArcadeDB 26.8.1, which correctly propagates the authenticated principal to asynchronous command worker threads. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
