| Exploitation Conditions | Exploitation requires an authenticated WordPress account holding administrator-level privileges or higher - unauthenticated attackers cannot trigger this vulnerability. Beyond authentication, one of two specific non-default deployment conditions must hold: either (1) the WordPress installation is operating as a multi-site network (where the unfiltered_html capability is withheld from sub-site administrators by default), or (2) the unfiltered_html capability has been explicitly removed from administrator roles on a single-site installation as a deliberate hardening measure. On a standard single-site WordPress installation where administrators retain unfiltered_html (the WordPress default), the vulnerable code paths do not permit script injection and the vulnerability is not exploitable. These constraints substantially limit the real-world attack surface to multi-tenant hosting environments and hardened enterprise WordPress deployments. |
| Impact | The CVSS 3.1 score of 4.4 Medium with vector AV:N/AC:H/PR:H/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N is broadly defensible. AC:H captures the deployment conditionality (multi-site or hardened unfiltered_html), and PR:H reflects the administrator-level authentication barrier - both are meaningful real-world constraints. The Scope:Changed metric is appropriate because the payload executes in a victim browser context distinct from the web server. No EPSS score was provided, so probabilistic exploitation likelihood cannot be quantified; however, the combination of PR:H and AC:H strongly suppresses real-world exploitability. No KEV listing and no identified POC further reduce urgency. The primary residual risk is in multi-tenant WordPress hosting environments where multiple semi-trusted administrators share a network - a hostile or compromised admin could use this to attack end users or other admins accessing the login page. On typical single-site WordPress installations with default capabilities, this vulnerability is entirely non-exploitable. The omission of UI:R in the provided vector is debatable: stored XSS does require victim page visitation, and an independent assessment would rate UI:R, yielding a lower base score. |
| Exploit ScenarioDerived | An authenticated WordPress administrator on a multi-site network navigates to the Admin Custom Login settings panel and submits a JavaScript payload embedded in a login-page customization field - such as a background image URL or custom CSS input - that is stored to the database without sanitization. Every subsequent visitor to the WordPress login page, including unauthenticated users, loads the injected script in their browser, enabling the attacker to harvest credentials entered into the login form, steal session cookies, or redirect users to a phishing page. No public exploit code has been identified, but the attack pattern is straightforward for any administrator with plugin settings access. |

Alert meAnalysisAIv1 – Aug 16, 2026
Stored Cross-Site Scripting in the Weblizar Admin Custom Login WordPress plugin (all versions ≤ 3.6.4) allows an authenticated administrator to inject persistent malicious scripts into the WordPress login page, which then execute in the browsers of any user who visits it - including unauthenticated visitors. The vulnerability is conditionally exploitable: it only manifests on WordPress multi-site networks or single-site installations where the unfiltered_html capability has been explicitly revoked from administrators, both non-default configurations. No public exploit has been identified at time of analysis, and the vulnerability is not listed in the CISA KEV catalog.
RemediationAI
A fix commit is available in the WordPress plugin Subversion repository (https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/changeset?reponame=&old=3510948%40admin-custom-login&new=3510948%40admin-custom-login); however, no specific patched release version number is independently confirmed from the provided data - site owners should update the plugin to the latest available version via the WordPress admin dashboard or via WP-CLI (wp plugin update admin-custom-login) and verify the installed version exceeds 3.6.4. As a compensating control for environments that cannot immediately update, granting or restoring the unfiltered_html capability to administrator roles on single-site installations removes this attack path without other side effects, though it re-enables administrators to post raw HTML - acceptable in trusted environments. On multi-site networks where this is not feasible, limiting administrator role assignment to thoroughly vetted users and auditing login-page customization settings for unexpected script content reduces exposure. Restricting admin panel access by IP allowlist limits the set of accounts that could introduce a payload, though it does not prevent execution for all login-page visitors.

The Admin Custom Login plugin (CPE: cpe:2.3:a:weblizar:admin_custom_login:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*) by Weblizar allows WordPress site owners to visually customize the wp-login.php page via an admin settings interface. The vulnerability class is CWE-79 (Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation - Cross-site Scripting), specifically the stored/persistent variant, where attacker-controlled data is written to the database and later rendered without escaping. Source-level references pinpoint two distinct unsanitized output locations: login-form-screen.php at line 162 and includes/login-form-setting/login-form-background.php at line 759. WordPress natively grants administrators the unfiltered_html capability on single-site installs, which bypasses many XSS mitigations; this vulnerability only surfaces when that safeguard is absent - either because the site is a multi-site network (where administrators are inherently less trusted than super-admins) or because unfiltered_html has been deliberately hardened away.

DescriptionCVE.org
The Admin Custom Login plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via admin settings in all versions up to, and including, 3.6.4 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with administrator-level permissions and above, to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. This only affects multi-site installations and installations where unfiltered_html has been disabled.
