DescriptionCVE.org

Flowise versions 2.2.4 through 3.1.4 contain a missing authorization vulnerability in the POST /api/v1/openai-assistants-file/download endpoint that allows unauthenticated attackers to access private files by exploiting the endpoint's inclusion in the global authentication whitelist, which bypasses all session and API key verification. Attackers can supply valid chatflowId, chatId, and fileName identifiers to retrieve files from any chatflow on the instance, including private chatflows belonging to other workspaces or organizations.

AnalysisAI

Unauthenticated file exfiltration in Flowise 2.2.4-3.1.4 is possible because the POST /api/v1/openai-assistants-file/download endpoint was incorrectly added to the application's global authentication whitelist, causing all session and API key verification to be skipped unconditionally. Any remote, unauthenticated attacker who can supply valid chatflowId, chatId, and fileName identifiers can retrieve private files from any chatflow on the instance, including those belonging to other workspaces or organizations in a multi-tenant deployment. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI

Exploitation The POST /api/v1/openai-assistants-file/download endpoint must be network-reachable - the default posture for internet-deployed Flowise instances. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment.
Risk Assessment The CVSS 4.0 score of 8.7 (AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:H) accurately reflects the severity: the endpoint is fully unauthenticated, requires no attack complexity, and produces high confidentiality impact. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in.
Exploit Scenario An attacker identifies an internet-facing Flowise instance and uses the published PoC (GitHub gist by haidang-infosec) to send a crafted POST request to /api/v1/openai-assistants-file/download with enumerated or previously leaked chatflowId, chatId, and fileName values. The application's middleware unconditionally skips authentication for that route, returning the requested file directly - enabling the attacker to download documents from private chatflows belonging to other organizations on the same instance without ever authenticating.
Remediation The primary remediation is to upgrade Flowise to a version beyond 3.1.4; however, the exact patched release version is not confirmed in any available reference, and the vendor advisory URL (https://flowiseai.com/sunset) may indicate product end-of-life - verify directly with FlowiseAI whether a patched release exists before assuming an upgrade path is available. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report.

Recommended ActionAI

Within 24 hours: inventory all Flowise deployments in production and identify current version numbers; immediately restrict network access to the Flowise application pending further assessment. …
