Alert meAnalysisAIv1 – Jul 10, 2026
Improper permission enforcement in JetBrains TeamCity before 2026.1.2 lets authenticated low-privilege users modify CI/CD pipelines they should not control, undermining build integrity and potentially exposing pipeline secrets. Reported by JetBrains itself and carrying a CVSS 8.1, the flaw is a missing-authorization issue (CWE-862) rather than a memory-safety bug. No public exploit identified at time of analysis, and it is not listed in CISA KEV.

In JetBrains TeamCity before 2026.1.2 pipeline modification was possible due to improper permission checks
Executive ViewAI
JetBrains TeamCity versions before 2026.1.2 contain a privilege escalation vulnerability (CVE-2026-59796) allowing authenticated low-privilege users to modify CI/CD pipelines beyond their authorization, creating exposure to malicious code injection and build secret compromise. With no vendor patch currently available, organizations cannot rely on version upgrades for immediate remediation. Urgent access restrictions and monitoring are required to prevent attackers from tampering with production build pipelines and compromising the software supply chain.
Within 24 hours: Audit all TeamCity user role assignments and restrict pipeline modification permissions exclusively to designated administrators; document and baseline current access configurations. Within 7 days: Enable comprehensive audit logging for all pipeline configuration changes; establish daily log review process with alerts for unauthorized modification attempts; subscribe to JetBrains and CISA advisory channels for patch notifications. Within 30 days: Prepare testing plan for version 2026.1.2 upon release; validate in staging environment and deploy to production following successful validation.
Enforce role-based access control (RBAC) restricting pipeline modification to explicitly authorized team members only; require multi-stage approval workflow for all pipeline configuration changes; enable and actively monitor comprehensive audit logging with real-time alerting; implement network-level isolation for sensitive build infrastructure; establish secondary secure change-control process for critical pipeline modifications until patch availability.
