The Plugin: CMS für Motorrad Werkstätten plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to SQL Injection via the 'arttype' parameter in all versions up to, and including, 1.0.0 due to insufficient escaping on the user supplied parameter and lack of sufficient preparation on the existing SQL query. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with subscriber-level access and above, to append additional SQL queries into already existing queries that can be used to extract sensitive information from the database.
AnalysisAI
SQL injection in the CMS für Motorrad Werkstätten WordPress plugin (versions up to 1.0.0) allows authenticated attackers with subscriber-level privileges to extract sensitive database information via an unsanitized 'arttype' parameter. The vulnerability requires valid WordPress user credentials but no special configuration, making it exploitable against any WordPress installation running the affected plugin. No public exploit code or active exploitation has been identified at the time of analysis.
Technical ContextAI
The vulnerability exists in the WordPress plugin CMS für Motorrad Werkstätten, which builds database queries using user-supplied input without proper escaping or parameterized query preparation. The 'arttype' parameter is processed in cfmw-positions.php (lines 202 and 207 based on referenced code paths) where it is concatenated directly into SQL queries without using WordPress's prepared statement functions (wpdb->prepare() with placeholders). CWE-89 (SQL Injection) describes the root cause: insufficient input validation combined with dynamic query construction. The plugin's use of direct string concatenation instead of parameterized queries allows attackers to inject arbitrary SQL syntax. WordPress plugins operating at the database layer require proper use of the $wpdb API, which this plugin fails to implement.
RemediationAI
Deactivate and remove the CMS für Motorrad Werkstätten plugin immediately if running version 1.0.0 or earlier. Check the WordPress plugin repository (https://plugins.wordpress.org/plugins/cms-fuer-motorrad-werkstaetten/) for an updated version; if no patched version is available, the plugin should remain disabled until the developer releases a fixed release. If the plugin's functionality is critical, request or contribute a patch to the developer that replaces all direct SQL concatenation with WordPress's $wpdb->prepare() function using parameterized queries. For example, change query construction from $wpdb->query("SELECT * FROM table WHERE arttype = '$_POST[arttype]'") to $wpdb->prepare("SELECT * FROM table WHERE arttype = %s", $_POST['arttype']). As a temporary compensating control, restrict WordPress user creation and subscriber account provisioning to trusted administrators only; this reduces the attack surface but does not eliminate the vulnerability. Monitor database activity and audit logs for unusual SQL patterns originating from the plugin during any interim period before removal or patching.
