CRITICAL 9.2

Description

Gigabyte Control Center developed by GIGABYTE has an Arbitrary File Write vulnerability. When the pairing feature is enabled, unauthenticated remote attackers can write arbitrary files to any location on the underlying operating system, leading to arbitrary code execution or privilege escalation.

Analysis

Remote code execution and privilege escalation in Gigabyte Control Center allows unauthenticated network attackers to write arbitrary files to any system location when the pairing feature is enabled. This path traversal vulnerability (CWE-23) requires high attack complexity but needs no user interaction. …

Remediation

Within 24 hours: Identify and inventory all systems running Gigabyte Control Center; disable the pairing feature immediately if operationally feasible. Within 7 days: Isolate or air-gap affected systems from network access; apply network segmentation to restrict Gigabyte Control Center communication. …
