DescriptionCVE.org

Hereta ETH-IMC408M firmware version 1.0.15 and prior contain a stored cross-site scripting vulnerability that allows authenticated attackers to inject arbitrary JavaScript by manipulating the Device Name field. Attackers can inject malicious scripts through the System Status interface that execute in browsers of users viewing the status page without input sanitation.

AnalysisAI

Stored XSS in Hereta ETH-IMC408M firmware versions 1.0.15 and earlier enables authenticated attackers to execute arbitrary JavaScript in the System Status interface by injecting malicious code through the Device Name field. The vulnerability affects any user viewing the compromised status page, potentially leading to session hijacking or credential theft. No patch is currently available for this issue.

Technical ContextAI

Cross-site scripting (XSS) allows injection of client-side scripts into web pages viewed by other users due to insufficient output encoding.

RemediationAI

Encode all user-supplied output contextually (HTML, JS, URL). Implement Content Security Policy (CSP) headers. Use HTTPOnly and Secure cookie flags.
