MITRE ATT&CK
1 technique across 1 tactic: Privilege Escalation The technique list with ATT&CK links and the kill-chain view is part of the Basic plan and up. |
| Exploitation Conditions | Exploitation requires a valid authenticated Mautic API account and that the REST API is enabled; the account can hold a role granting no permissions. The specific trigger is requesting the Stats API endpoint /api/stats/{table} for internal tables that either had no explicit permission mapping (readable by default) or whose intended administrator-only restriction was never applied. Limiting factors: the attacker must already possess API credentials (PR:L), the impact is read-only disclosure of specific internal tables (audit log, visitor IP/geolocation, tracked redirect URLs/channel mappings) rather than arbitrary data, and instances with the API disabled or restricted to trusted administrative users are not exposed. The vendor states there are no official workarounds other than disabling the API or restricting API access to trusted administrative users; updating to 5.2.12, 6.0.10, or 7.2.2 is the complete fix. |
| Impact | This is a medium-severity broken access control flaw (CWE-862, CVSS 6.5) whose real-world priority sits below the raw score. The CVSS vector CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N confirms network-reachable, low-complexity exploitation but requires an authenticated API account (PR:L), and impact is confidentiality-only (C:H, I:N, A:N) - there is no write, code-execution, or availability consequence. The vuln.today decision label is 'this_month' rather than act_now/emergency, consistent with a disclosure-driven, not actively-exploited, issue. No CISA KEV listing, no EPSS score, and no SSVC breakdown were supplied, and no proof-of-concept or exploit reference was provided (only the vendor GHSA advisory), so there is no public exploit identified at time of analysis. The main caveat: C:H depends on reading an audit log that may contain contact PII, stored visitor IPs with geolocation, and tracked redirect/channel data - sensitive but bounded disclosure, not full database compromise. Net: a legitimate confidentiality/privacy concern for Mautic operators with multi-tenant or low-privilege API accounts, but not an emergency-grade exposure absent exploitation signals. |
| Exploit ScenarioDerived | A low-privileged user who has been granted an API account on a Mautic instance (for example, a limited integration user whose role grants no permissions) sends authenticated GET requests to /api/stats/{table} for internal tables that lack an enforced permission mapping. Because the administrator-only restriction was never applied and unmapped tables defaulted to readable, the user harvests the application audit log, visitor IP/geolocation records, and tracked redirect URLs. No public exploit code is identified at time of analysis; exploitation is low-complexity but requires valid API credentials. |

Alert meAnalysisAIv1 – Oct 26, 2026
Mautic's Stats API exposes internal application tables to any authenticated API user, including an account whose role grants no permissions, because permission checks for several tables were missing or an intended administrator-only restriction was never enforced. The flaw affects Mautic releases before 5.2.12, 6.0.10, and 7.2.2 and can disclose audit-log actions and change details, stored visitor IP and geolocation data, and tracked redirect URLs with channel mappings. Exploitation requires a valid API account and an enabled REST API; no public exploit identified at time of analysis, and vendor-released fixed versions are available.
RemediationAI
Vendor-released patches are available: update to 5.2.12 on the 5.x line, 6.0.10 on the 6.x line, or 7.2.2 on the 7.x line, and refer to the advisory at https://github.com/mautic/mautic/security/advisories/GHSA-7j28-9rg4-wg63. The vendor states there are no official workarounds; to mitigate without upgrading, disable the API or restrict API access to trusted administrative users. Disabling the API will break API-dependent integrations, while restricting access to trusted administrators reduces exposure but does not correct the underlying permission logic for those accounts. For legacy Mautic 4 deployments, the vendor points to its Extended Long Term Support (ELTS) program.
Affected ProductsAI
The affected product is Mautic, distributed as composer/mautic/core. The advisory lists vulnerable ranges >= 2.3.0 and < 5.2.12, >= 6.0.0 and < 6.0.10, and >= 7.0.0 and < 7.2.2, with fixed releases 5.2.12, 6.0.10, and 7.2.2 respectively. In practical version terms, Mautic 2.3.0 through 5.2.11, 6.0.0 through 6.0.9, and 7.0.0 through 7.2.1 are covered by those ranges. Legacy Mautic 4 releases are directed to the vendor's Extended Long Term Support (ELTS) program for security support. The vendor advisory is available at https://github.com/mautic/mautic/security/advisories/GHSA-7j28-9rg4-wg63.

Technical ContextAI · show details
Mautic is an open-source marketing automation platform distributed as composer/mautic/core. The affected component is the Stats API endpoint /api/stats/{table}, which serves data from internal tables but failed to enforce a complete table-to-permission mapping. According to the advisory, an intended administrator-only restriction was never applied, and tables without an explicit permission mapping were readable by default; this is a CWE-862 missing authorization flaw rather than an injection or memory-safety issue. The CVSS vector CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N confirms network reachability and low-privileged authenticated access are required, with high confidentiality impact and no integrity or availability impact. Exploitation conditions require a valid Mautic API account and an enabled REST API; the account can hold a role granting no permissions. The trigger is requesting /api/stats/{table} for internal tables that lacked explicit permission mapping or whose administrator-only restriction was not enforced. The impact is read-only disclosure of specific internal tables, including audit-log entries, visitor IP and geolocation data, and redirect/channel mappings, rather than arbitrary data access. Instances with the API disabled or restricted to trusted administrative users are not exposed. No CPE identifiers were supplied in the input; the package ranges identify the affected code.

Remotely reachable API (AV:N/AC:L) requiring any authenticated low-privilege account (PR:L); read-only disclosure of sensitive audit/PII/IP data gives C:H with no integrity or availability impact.

DescriptionCVE.org
A broken access control vulnerability exists in the Mautic Stats API (/api/stats/{table}). The endpoint did not enforce permissions for several internal tables: an intended administrator-only restriction was never applied, and tables without an explicit permission mapping were readable by default. As a result, any authenticated API user, including one whose role grants no permissions, could read data from these tables, including the application audit log with actions performed by all users and change details that may contain contact personal data, stored visitor IP addresses and their geolocation details, and tracked redirect URLs and their channel mappings.
