MITRE ATT&CK
2 techniques across 2 tactics: Initial Access, Persistence The technique list with ATT&CK links and the kill-chain view is part of the Basic plan and up. |
| Exploitation Conditions | Two concrete preconditions must both hold: (1) the Mautic API must be enabled on the instance, and (2) the attacker must possess a valid Mautic account with API access (CVSS PR:L - authenticated). Given those, exploitation targets the dashboard widget data endpoint /api/data/{type} by supplying malicious chart filter parameters that are not validated before being used in the reporting database queries. Limiting factors that reduce real-world exposure: deployments with the API disabled (or restricted to trusted users, the vendor's stated mitigation) are not exploitable, and no unauthenticated path exists. Affected: mautic/core >= 2.8.1 and < 5.2.12, >= 6.0.0 and < 6.0.10, and >= 7.0.0 and < 7.2.2; the vulnerable version range is broad. |
| Impact | This is a genuine but conditional priority rather than an emergency. The CVSS 3.1 vector (AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:L, base 7.1) describes a network-reachable, low-complexity attack that nonetheless requires authentication (PR:L) - specifically a valid Mautic user with API access. No EPSS score, no CISA KEV listing, and no SSVC machine-readable decision block were supplied; the only priority signal is the vuln.today 'this_week' label, which aligns with a confirmed high-confidentiality impact (password-hash disclosure) gated behind authentication. The sole reference is the vendor's own GHSA advisory, not an exploit, so this is not confirmed as actively exploited and no public exploit code is identified. The confidentiality impact is high (arbitrary read of the Mautic database including user credential hashes via blind SQLi), while integrity is explicitly unaffected (no data modification) and availability impact is limited to query slowdown - the CVSS I:N/A:L mapping is consistent with the description. The main thing tempering real-world risk is the dual precondition that the Mautic API must be enabled AND the attacker must already hold an API-capable account; absent those, the endpoint is not reachable. No signals conflict with one another; the chief gap is the absence of EPSS/KEV/POC telemetry, so exploitation likelihood cannot be quantified from the input. |
| Exploit ScenarioDerived | An authenticated Mautic user with API access sends crafted chart filter parameters to the /api/data/{type} dashboard widget endpoint on an instance where the API is enabled. Because the filters are concatenated into reporting SQL without validation, the attacker uses blind (boolean/time-based) SQL injection to exfiltrate arbitrary database contents - marketing/contact data and user password hashes - one inference at a time. No public exploit code is identified at time of analysis; only the vendor GHSA advisory is referenced. |

Alert meAnalysisAIv1 – Oct 26, 2026
Blind SQL injection in the Mautic dashboard widget data API (/api/data/{type}) allows an authenticated account holding API access to read arbitrary contents of the Mautic database, including contact and marketing records and user accounts with password hashes. Exploitation requires two conditions to hold simultaneously: the Mautic API must be enabled on the instance, and the attacker must hold a valid account with API access (CVSS PR:L); no unauthenticated path exists, and instances with the API disabled or restricted to trusted users are not exploitable. Integrity impact is none - data modification is not possible - while availability impact is limited to attacker-induced query slowdowns; no public exploit code or CISA KEV entry was identified at time of analysis, and the vendor has released fixed versions 7.2.2, 6.0.10 and 5.2.12.
RemediationAI
Upgrade to the fixed release on your branch: 7.2.2 for the 7.x line, 6.0.10 for the 6.x line, or 5.2.12 for the 5.x line, per advisory GHSA-qpmx-7pq3-5q2v (https://github.com/mautic/mautic/security/advisories/GHSA-qpmx-7pq3-5q2v); installations still on Mautic 4 must obtain fixes through the vendor's ELTS program. There are no official workarounds, so upgrading is the only complete fix. If an immediate upgrade is not feasible, the vendor's stated mitigations are to disable the Mautic API entirely when it is not needed - which removes the /api/data/{type} attack surface but breaks any integrations, tracking or automation that depend on the API - or, where the API must stay on, to restrict API access to trusted users only, which lowers exposure without closing the injection itself since any remaining API-enabled account can still reach the vulnerable endpoint. Given the this_week priority signal and the fact that the only prerequisite beyond network reach is a valid API-capable account, schedule the upgrade within the current patch cycle and audit existing API-enabled accounts and their privileges in the meantime.
Affected ProductsAI
The affected package is composer/mautic/core across three vulnerable ranges: versions from 2.8.1 up to but not including 5.2.12, versions from 6.0.0 up to but not including 6.0.10, and versions from 7.0.0 up to but not including 7.2.2 - a deliberately broad span covering the 5.x, 6.x and 7.x release lines. The corresponding fixed releases are 5.2.12, 6.0.10 and 7.2.2. Mautic 4 is outside general security support and is served only through the vendor's Extended Long Term Support (ELTS) program, so 4.x deployments should confirm their ELTS coverage rather than assume a community patch. Full version detail and the vendor's own affected-range statement are in the GitHub security advisory GHSA-qpmx-7pq3-5q2v at https://github.com/mautic/mautic/security/advisories/GHSA-qpmx-7pq3-5q2v.

Technical ContextAI · show details
Mautic is an open-source marketing automation platform distributed as composer/mautic/core, and this finding is a CWE-89 SQL injection in the reporting layer that builds dashboard chart data. The dashboard widget data endpoint (/api/data/{type}) accepts chart filter parameters from the client and passes them into the database queries that assemble chart datasets without adequate validation, so the filter values reach the query as executable SQL rather than as inert data. Because the results of those reporting queries are not returned verbatim to the caller, the advisory describes the technique as blind SQL injection, and it notes that injected SQL can also be used to slow down database queries, which yields the limited availability impact captured in the CVSS vector (A:L) alongside high confidentiality impact (C:H) and no integrity impact (I:N). The trigger path runs entirely through an authenticated API request - CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U - so the flaw is reachable over the network without user interaction by any principal that already holds API credentials, which in Mautic means an account with API access on an instance where the API has been enabled. Data modification is explicitly out of scope per the vendor, so the exposure is read-only exfiltration of the underlying marketing database and the user table including password hashes, which materially raises the value of the harvested data for follow-on credential attacks.

DescriptionCVE.org
An SQL Injection vulnerability exists in the dashboard widget data API endpoint (/api/data/{type}). Chart filter parameters supplied by the client are not properly validated before they are used in the database queries that build dashboard chart data. An authenticated user with API access can exploit this to inject SQL into these reporting queries. Using blind SQL injection techniques, the attacker can read arbitrary data from the Mautic database, including contact and other marketing data and user account data with password hashes. The injected SQL can also be used to slow down database queries, which can have a limited impact on availability. Data modification is not possible through this vulnerability. Exploitation requires the Mautic API to be enabled.

Executive ViewAI
The Mautic marketing automation platform contains a high-severity blind SQL injection flaw in its dashboard widget data API, enabling any authenticated API user to read the entire database, including contact records, marketing data, and user account password hashes. Although no public exploit code or active exploitation has been identified at this time, the breadth of data accessible and the sensitivity of exposed credentials warrant immediate remediation, particularly given the unpatched status of this vulnerability. Leadership should prioritize patching to prevent potential data breaches and credential theft.
