Exploitation Conditions

Exploitation requires reaching the JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Tools Web Runtime SEC component over HTTP AND human interaction from a victim other than the attacker (UI:R) - typically an authenticated JD Edwards user who must open or interact with attacker-crafted content for the injected payload to execute in their browser. Limiting factors: the dependence on social engineering/victim interaction means it is not self-propagating or mass-automatable; impact is confined to a subset of accessible data (partial read plus limited update/insert/delete) with no availability impact; and only versions 9.2.0.0 through 9.2.26.5 are affected. No privileges are required of the attacker (PR:N), so the web front end need not be authenticated to the attacker, but a target user session is the practical delivery vehicle.

Impact

This is a moderate-severity issue (CVSS 3.1 6.1) whose signals point to a browser-targeted injection flaw (almost certainly stored/reflected cross-site scripting) rather than a high-priority server compromise. The CVSS vector (AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N) shows network reachability over HTTP with low complexity and no privileges, but the mandatory UI:R and scope-change-with-limited-C/I-and-no-A profile is the canonical web-injection pattern - the 'compromise' is of the victim's session/other products, not direct code execution. No EPSS score, CISA KEV listing, or public POC is present in the supplied data, so there is no evidence of active exploitation or weaponization; exploitation status is 'no public exploit identified at time of analysis.' NOTE A CONFLICT: the input Tag 'Authentication Bypass' is inconsistent with the vector and description, which describe partial C/I impact via user interaction, not an auth-bypass - treat the tag as unreliable. Overall this is a real-but-not-urgent patch-in-normal-cycle item: low per-record impact, unauthenticated reachability offset by required human interaction, and no current exploitation signal.

Exploit ScenarioDerived

An unauthenticated attacker crafts a malicious HTTP request/link or payload handled by the JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Tools Web Runtime SEC component and lures an authenticated JD Edwards user into triggering it. When the victim loads the crafted content, injected script runs in their browser context, letting the attacker read a subset of accessible data and perform limited unauthorized update/insert/delete actions, with impact spilling into additional products (scope change). No public exploit code is identified at time of analysis.

AnalysisAIv1 – Oct 21, 2026

A cross-site scripting-style injection flaw in the Web Runtime SEC component of Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Tools (versions 9.2.0.0 through 9.2.26.5) can be triggered over HTTP by an unauthenticated remote attacker, but only succeeds if a victim other than the attacker interacts with attacker-supplied content (UI:R). CVSS 3.1 scores it 6.1 with scope change, low confidentiality and low integrity impact on the affected and possibly additional products, and no availability impact; the practical delivery vehicle is a targeted JD Edwards user session rather than mass-automated scanning. Exploitation requires social engineering of a legitimate user's browser, there is no confirmed active exploitation (not in CISA KEV), and no public exploit code was identified at time of analysis.

RemediationAI

Apply the Web Runtime SEC fix shipped in the Oracle Critical Patch Update for October 2026 (https://www.oracle.com/security-alerts/cpuoct2026.html); Oracle's CPU program assigns a new EnterpriseOne Tools patch-set/ESU level above 9.2.26.5, and customers should apply that Tools-level update or the next cumulative Tools release per their support queue, since no per-CVE version string beyond the affected range is published. Because the flaw is exploitation-by-victim-interaction, patching is the definitive fix but interim exposure can be reduced: enforce Content-Security-Policy and X-Content-Type-Options/X-Frame-Options on the EnterpriseOne web front end (side effect: legacy ADF/Javascript UI components that rely on inline script or framing may break and require testing); enable the built-in HTML input sanitization/validation options in the Web Runtime and review custom JDE pages, UBE/portal content, and any user-editable fields that echo back to the browser; and shorten session lifetimes or restrict single sign-on token reuse so a script hijack yields a smaller window (side effect: more frequent re-authentication for business users). Additionally, block or filter untrusted inbound HTTP paths to the Web Runtime via the reverse proxy, log and alert on anomalous script/link parameters in requests, and treat messages purporting to be EnterpriseOne links as phishing attempts; note that none of these controls removes the vulnerability, so the CPU patch remains required. No public exploit code is available at time of analysis, so rapid mass exploitation is not expected, but the low complexity and unauthenticated reachability warrant prioritization within the normal Oracle CPU patch cycle.

Technical ContextAI · show details

The affected component is the Web Runtime Security subcomponent of JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Tools, the Java-based HTML/Javascript web presentation layer that serves EnterpriseOne applications (E1Menu, the web runtime, and its security handling filters) to end-user browsers. The CWE is not published by the vendor, but the assessed vector (AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N) is the canonical signature of a browser-targeted injection such as cross-site scripting: the attacker needs no credentials against the web tier (PR:N), the attack complexity is low, yet the attacker cannot complete the attack without a victim's interaction (UI:R). Google Chrome/2026-era browser protections do not eliminate this class because the payload is served from the trusted EnterpriseOne origin. The scope change (S:C) reflects that script executed in the Web Runtime context can reach resources of the broader Oracle ecosystem layered on top of EnterpriseOne (for example other Oracle-hosted applications reusing the session), which is why Oracle notes that attacks may significantly impact additional products. Impact is limited to reading a subset of accessible data plus unauthorized update/insert/delete on some of it, with no denial of service. CPE data was not included in the supplied sources, so affected versions are taken from the Oracle CPU and ENISA EUVD range 9.2.0.0 through 9.2.26.5.

DescriptionCVE.org

Vulnerability in the JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Tools product of Oracle JD Edwards (component: Web Runtime SEC). Supported versions that are affected are 9.2.0.0-9.2.26.5. Easily exploitable vulnerability allows unauthenticated attacker with network access via HTTP to compromise JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Tools. Successful attacks require human interaction from a person other than the attacker and while the vulnerability is in JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Tools, attacks may significantly impact additional products (scope change). Successful attacks of this vulnerability can result in unauthorized update, insert or delete access to some of JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Tools accessible data as well as unauthorized read access to a subset of JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Tools accessible data. CVSS 3.1 Base Score 6.1 (Confidentiality and Integrity impacts). CVSS Vector: (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N).
