MITRE ATT&CK
1 technique across 1 tactic: Privilege Escalation The technique list with ATT&CK links and the kill-chain view is part of the Basic plan and up. |
| Exploitation Conditions | Requires a valid authenticated Froxlor customer account (PR:L) and direct invocation of the SubDomains.delete API command with the id of a main domain (parentdomainid=0) provisioned to that customer by a reseller/admin. The specific condition is that the delete authorization check existed only in the web UI (customer_domains.php: domains_cantdeletemaindomain) and was absent from the API handler, so the attacker must call the API rather than go through the UI. Limiting factors: exploitation is confined to Froxlor 0.10.0 before 2.3.15, requires pre-existing low-privileged credentials (no anonymous access), needs no user interaction or elevated privileges, and impact is bounded to domains the attacker's own account is associated with. |
| Impact | This is a medium-severity authorization flaw, not a top-tier priority. The CVSS 4.0 base score of 5.3 aligns with the vector AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:N/VI:L/VA:L: network-reachable via the API, low complexity, but requiring an existing low-privileged (authenticated customer) account and yielding only limited integrity and availability impact with no confidentiality loss. Exploitation status is 'no public exploit identified at time of analysis' - the CVE is not in CISA KEV, no EPSS score was supplied, and no POC is referenced (VulnCheck and the GHSA advisory describe the flaw but no weaponized exploit is cited). The signals are internally consistent: a logic/authorization bug that an authenticated tenant can trigger, bounded to the hosting environment the attacker already has access to, so real-world risk is best characterized as insider/tenant abuse rather than mass external compromise. No conflicting signals were observed between the CVSS vector and the description; both indicate authenticated, network-facing API abuse with limited impact. |
| Exploit ScenarioDerived | A customer with a valid Froxlor account calls the SubDomains.delete API directly (bypassing the web UI's domains_cantdeletemaindomain restriction) and supplies the id of a reseller-provisioned main domain (parentdomainid=0) assigned to them. The deletion orphans the associated vhost, DNS, and subdomain records and drives the subdomains_used counter below zero, granting the attacker extra subdomain allowance. No public exploit code is identified, but the flaw is trivially reproducible for any authenticated customer given the documented API command. |

Alert meAnalysisAIv1 – Oct 20, 2026
Froxlor 0.10.0 through 2.3.14 does not enforce the main-domain deletion restriction in the SubDomains.delete API command, allowing any authenticated customer to delete a reseller- or admin-provisioned main domain by supplying its id. This can orphan vhost, DNS, and subdomain records and push subdomains_used below zero, granting extra subdomain allowance. The vendor fixed the missing authorization check in 2.3.15; no public exploit was identified at time of analysis.
RemediationAI
Upgrade Froxlor to 2.3.15 or later (vendor-released patch: 2.3.15), which adds the missing non-admin/main-domain guard; see the GHSA advisory and commit 078e3f4. If immediate upgrade is not possible, restrict Froxlor API access for customer accounts to trusted networks or disable customer API use, and consider a reverse-proxy/WAF rule denying non-admin SubDomains.delete requests-both trade off legitimate API automation. Also audit domains_used and subdomains_used counters for negative values or orphaned vhost/DNS/subdomain records and review API logs for unauthorized delete calls. No vendor workaround beyond the patch is documented.

Technical ContextAI · show details
The flaw is CWE-862 (Missing Authorization) in the PHP-based Froxlor hosting control panel. Froxlor's web UI already blocked customers from deleting main domains via customer_domains.php (domains_cantdeletemaindomain), and SubDomains.get() intentionally returns main domains with parentdomainid=0 for domain details. However, the SubDomains.delete API handler in lib/Froxlor/Api/Commands/SubDomains.php did not repeat that check, so a logged-in customer could invoke the API directly with a main domain id. The upstream fix commit 078e3f4ba0429390b27baae6aa1cc5d8c9a80010 adds a guard that rejects deletion when the caller is not an admin and the target's parentdomainid is '0', returning domains_cantdeletemaindomain. CPE data identifies the affected package as froxlor:froxlor before 2.3.15.

DescriptionCVE.org
Froxlor from 0.10.0 before 2.3.15 contains a missing authorization vulnerability in the SubDomains.delete API command that allows authenticated customers to delete reseller-provisioned main domains by supplying a main domain id. Attackers can bypass the web UI restriction to remove domains, orphan vhost, DNS and subdomain records, and drive subdomains_used below zero to gain extra subdomain allowance.
