| Exploitation Conditions | Requires an authenticated account that has been granted permission to create Public Holidays or Mandatory Days in the Webkul Time-Off plugin; the attacker stores a JavaScript payload in a holiday name, which HolidayAction.php renders unescaped via Illuminate\Support\HtmlString in the Holiday modal (source lines 42-63 of v1.6.0). Exploitation is LIMITED by two factors from the CVSS 4.0 vector: PR:L means a valid low-privilege authenticated account with holiday-creation rights is needed (not anonymous), and UI:P means the payload only fires when a privileged victim (HR manager or administrator) actually opens the Holiday modal - it does not self-trigger. It affects default rendering behavior of the Time-Off plugin in Aureus ERP builds through 1.6.0 and does not require any non-default configuration beyond the attacker holding the holiday-creation permission. |
| Impact | This is a genuine but moderate-priority issue, not a top-tier emergency. The vendor CVSS 4.0 vector (AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:P/VC:L/VI:L/VA:N/SC:L/SI:L) scores 5.1 (Medium), and the signals are internally consistent: it is network-reachable but requires an authenticated low-privilege account (PR:L) that is specifically permitted to create Public Holidays or Mandatory Days, plus passive user interaction (UI:P) from a privileged victim who opens the Holiday modal. A public proof-of-concept exists (hackmd writeup) and a vendor patch is available (PR #1606), so publicly available exploit code exists - but this is NOT confirmed active exploitation: the CVE is not listed in CISA KEV and no EPSS score was provided in the input, so widespread automated exploitation cannot be asserted. The practical impact is session hijacking of an HR manager or administrator, which is a privilege-escalation pathway (low-priv holiday creator to admin-context script execution), but it depends on both a malicious insider/compromised low-priv account AND a privileged victim viewing the crafted entry. Net: a real, patchable second-stage/insider-driven vulnerability worth remediating promptly in affected deployments, but lacking the mass-exploitation characteristics of a critical flaw. The only notable caveat: EPSS and KEV data are absent from the input, so real-world exploitation frequency is inferred as low-to-targeted rather than confirmed. |
| Exploit ScenarioDerived | A low-privileged but authenticated Aureus ERP user who has been granted permission to create Public Holidays or Mandatory Days enters a holiday name containing a JavaScript payload, which is stored and later rendered unescaped as an HtmlString in the Time-Off plugin's Holiday modal. When an HR manager or administrator opens that modal, the script executes in their browser session, allowing session/cookie theft and actions in the privileged user's context. A public proof-of-concept for this exact flow is available. |

Alert meAnalysisAIv1 – Oct 15, 2026
Stored cross-site scripting in Webkul's Aureus ERP through version 1.6.0 allows an authenticated user holding permission to create Public Holidays or Mandatory Days to store JavaScript in a holiday name, which is then rendered unescaped as an HtmlString inside the Time-Off plugin's Holiday modal. The payload executes in the browser of any HR manager or administrator who opens that modal, enabling session hijacking or privileged actions in the victim's context. Publicly available exploit code exists, but the issue is moderate-priority rather than an emergency: the CVSS 4.0 vector (PR:L/UI:P) requires a valid low-privilege account with holiday-creation rights, and the script only fires when a privileged user actually opens the affected modal rather than self-triggering.
RemediationAI
The vendor has published an upstream fix in GitHub PR #1606 (https://github.com/aureuserp/aureuserp/pull/1606), which replaces the HtmlString HTML concatenation in HolidayAction.php with escaped Filament components - apply this patch or upgrade to an Aureus ERP release that includes it; because the fix is delivered as a pull request, sites should verify against the maintainers whether a tagged release incorporating it exists rather than assuming a patched version number. If immediate upgrading is not possible, the most effective compensating control is to revoke the Public Holiday / Mandatory Day creation permission from all but a very small set of trusted administrators, since exploitation is gated on an attacker holding that permission (PR:L) - the trade-off is reduced delegation of HR calendar administration. Security teams should also audit existing CalendarLeave holiday names for embedded markup or script tags and purge any suspicious entries, recognizing this is a cleanup measure rather than a structural fix. Deploying a Content-Security-Policy that disallows inline and third-party script execution limits the impact of any stored payload but can break Filament admin UI features, and configuring session cookies with HttpOnly and SameSite=Strict reduces the session-hijacking value of a successful XSS without preventing the injection itself. There is no evidence of active exploitation (no CISA KEV listing), though exploit code is publicly available, so patching should be prioritized alongside permission tightening rather than treated as an emergency outage.

Technical ContextAI · show details
Aureus ERP is a Laravel-based open-source ERP built on the Filament PHP admin framework, and this flaw lives in the Webkul Time-Off plugin (plugins/webkul/time-off). In v1.6.0, HolidayAction.php (source lines 42-63) builds the contents of the Holiday modal by querying CalendarLeave records and concatenating holiday names directly into an HTML string returned through Illuminate\Support\HtmlString. Because HtmlString tells Blade/Filament that the content is already safe, the normal output-escaping layer is bypassed, so attacker-controlled holiday names are emitted verbatim into the DOM - the classic CWE-79 stored (persistent) XSS pattern. The vendor's fix in PR #1606 removes the manual HTML assembly and HtmlString usage in favor of structured Filament components (Grid, RepeatableEntry, Carbon, Collection), letting the framework escape values on render; the same PR also adds localization strings for empty-state and calendar-widget labels that were previously hard-coded in English inside the HTML blob. The affected CPE is cpe:2.3:a:webkul:aureus_erp:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*, i.e. all versions of Aureus ERP up to and including 1.6.0.

DescriptionCVE.org
Aureus ERP through 1.6.0 contains a stored cross-site scripting vulnerability in HolidayAction.php that allows authenticated users to inject scripts via unescaped holiday names rendered as HtmlString. Attackers permitted to create Public Holidays or Mandatory Days can store JavaScript payloads that execute when HR managers or administrators open the Holiday modal, hijacking their sessions.
