Exploitation Conditions

Exploitation requires an authenticated account with access to the client project-file upload feature (/ekushey/index.php/client/project_file/upload/xxxx) to submit a crafted 'description' value via POST (PR:L). Because the payload is stored, a second authenticated user must subsequently view the poisoned description for the script to fire (UI:P) - the attacker cannot self-trigger impact. Limiting factors: this is not remote-unauthenticated (a valid login is needed), success depends on luring or waiting for a higher-value user to open the affected record, and impact is confined to that victim's browser session (cookie/session theft) rather than direct server or data compromise.

Impact

This is a genuinely medium/low-priority issue, and the signals are internally consistent rather than conflicting. The CVSS 4.0 base score is 5.1 (Medium), and the vector tells a modest story: although the attack vector is network (AV:N) with low complexity (AC:L), exploitation requires an already-authenticated account (PR:L) and victim interaction (UI:P) - a logged-in user must view the attacker-poisoned 'description' field. Impact is limited to subsequent-system confidentiality and integrity (SC:L/SI:L) with no impact on the vulnerable application itself (VC:N/VI:N/VA:N), reflecting classic session-cookie theft rather than direct server compromise. The EPSS score of 0.03% (9th percentile) is very low, and there is no CISA KEV listing and no public exploit identified, so there is no evidence of real-world or opportunistic exploitation. No signals conflict here: a Medium CVSS, near-zero EPSS, absent KEV, and a niche product all point the same direction. The main caveat is sourcing - the only references are an INCIBE-CERT bulletin and an NVD detail page, with no independent vendor advisory confirming a fix, so patch availability is unverified.

Exploit ScenarioDerived

An authenticated low-privilege user of Ekushey CRM uploads or edits a project file and injects a malicious script into the 'description' POST parameter at /ekushey/index.php/client/project_file/upload/xxxx. When another authenticated user (e.g. an administrator or project manager) later views that stored description, the script executes in their browser and exfiltrates their session cookie. No public exploit code has been identified at time of analysis.

AnalysisAIv2 – Oct 12, 2026

Stored cross-site scripting in Ekushey CRM 5.0 (Creativeitem's Ekushey Project Manager CRM) lets an authenticated user who can reach the client project-file upload endpoint at /ekushey/index.php/client/project_file/upload/xxxx inject a crafted value into the 'description' POST parameter that is later rendered without encoding to other users. Because the payload is persisted server-side, a second authenticated victim who opens the poisoned project file - such as a manager or administrator - has attacker-controlled script run inside their browser session, enabling theft of session cookies or other in-session data. Exploitation requires a valid low-privileged login plus victim interaction (no KEV listing, no public exploit identified at time of analysis, EPSS 0.03% / 9th percentile), so the reporting and the independent re-assessment agree this is a medium-to-low priority issue rather than a mass-exploitation risk.

RemediationAI

No vendor-released patch has been identified at time of analysis, so the primary action is to track the INCIBE-CERT advisory at https://www.incibe.es/en/incibe-cert/notices/aviso/multiple-vulnerabilities-creativeitem-products for a fixed build from Creativeitem and upgrade as soon as one is published. Until then, apply compensating controls that directly blunt this attack path: restrict the client project-file upload privilege to a small, trusted set of accounts and remove it from general client logins, accepting the trade-off that legitimate project documentation uploads must be funneled through those accounts; apply server-side output encoding and input sanitization to the 'description' field (or, if the code cannot be changed, front it with a reverse proxy/WAF rule that rejects '<script', javascript: URIs, and event-handler attributes in multipart POST bodies targeting the upload endpoint, understanding that WAF signatures can be evaded by encoded payloads and may generate false positives on legitimate rich-text descriptions); set the CRM session cookie with HttpOnly, Secure, and SameSite=Lax or Strict so that any script that does execute cannot read the session token, with the caveat that SameSite=Strict can break cross-site integrations; and deploy a Content-Security-Policy that disallows inline script and untrusted script sources, acknowledging that a strict CSP may require refactoring of existing front-end code. If the upload module is not business-critical, disabling the client project-file feature entirely is the most reliable interim mitigation.

Technical ContextAI · show details

The flaw is a classic CWE-79 improper neutralization of input during web page generation, specifically the stored (persistent) XSS variant, in a PHP-built customer relationship management application: Creativeitem Ekushey Project Manager CRM 5.0, captured in the CPE string cpe:2.3:a:creativeitem:ekushey_project_manager_crm:5.0. The affected code path is the client-side project-file upload controller, which accepts a multipart/form-data POST containing a 'description' field; that value is written to the backend store and subsequently echoed into the HTML of the project file listing or detail view without HTML-entity encoding or sanitization. Any user with the client project-file upload privilege can therefore plant markup or script that executes in the origin of the CRM for whoever next views the record, which is why the CVSS 4.0 vector reports low privileges (PR:L) and passive user interaction (UI:P) with subsequent-system confidentiality and integrity impact (SC:L/SI:L) while leaving the vulnerable system's own C/I/A unaffected (VC:N/VI:N/VA:N). Impact is confined to the victim's browser context - session cookie theft, CSRF-style actions on behalf of the victim, or exfiltration of rendered CRM data - and does not by itself give the attacker server-side code execution or direct database compromise; practical cookie theft also depends on the session cookie lacking the HttpOnly attribute, and the presence of SameSite or CSP protections can further constrain the payload.

DescriptionCVE.org

Stored Cross Site Scripting vulnerability in Ekushey CRM v5.0 by Creativeitem, due to lack of proper validation of user inputs via the "/ekushey/index.php/client/project_file/upload/xxxx", affecting to "description" parameter via POST. This vulnerability could allow a remote attacker to send a specially crafted query to an authenticated user and steal his/her cookie session details.

Executive ViewAI

Why It Matters

Organizations using Ekushey CRM should be aware of moderate risk from CVE-2025-40991, a cross-site scripting vulnerability rated CVSS 5.4. Attackers could inject scripts to steal sessions or perform actions as authenticated users. Organizations should apply vendor updates when available and monitor for exploitation.

Business Impact: Low
Compensating Controls

Apply vendor patch. If patching is delayed: implement CSP headers, enable HttpOnly cookies, deploy WAF XSS rules.
