Privilege escalation in the FreeBSD kernel's POSIX shared memory subsystem allows an unprivileged local user to access freed kernel memory and escalate privileges. The flaw arises in the interaction between largepage-backed shared memory objects and the sendfile(2) syscall when used with the SF_NOCACHE flag, which prematurely frees pages that active memory mappings still reference, producing a use-after-free condition in kernel address space. Affected releases span FreeBSD 14.3, 14.4, 15.0, and 15.1; no public exploit or active exploitation has been identified at time of analysis, though a vendor security advisory (FreeBSD-SA-26:44.posixshm.asc) and patched releases are available.
Resource access-after-free in the Linux kernel's vfio/pci subsystem allows a local user with device access to read or corrupt PCI device resources during a race window on device shutdown, because vfio_pci_core_close_device() disabled the function before tearing down DMABUF exports. During the window the function's Memory Space Enable bit is cleared and its BARs (and their backing resources) are freed and reassignable to another driver, while stale DMABUF mappings still reference them.
