3DescriptionCVE.org
A flaw was found in the Admin REST API of Keycloak, an open-source identity and access management solution. The endpoint used for deleting user credentials does not correctly check for fine-grained reset-password permissions. This allows a delegated administrator, who should be restricted from resetting passwords, to delete a user's password credentials, resulting in the user being unable to log in.
AnalysisAI
Delegated administrators in Keycloak can bypass fine-grained reset-password restrictions through the Admin REST API's credential-deletion endpoint, deleting a targeted user's password credentials and locking that user out. The flaw (CWE-862) requires an authenticated, provisioned delegated admin who has user-management access but is specifically not granted the manage-credentials/reset-password permission; it is an insider/delegated-tenant privilege-boundary escalation within the admin's reachable user scope, not unauthenticated exploitation, account takeover, or data disclosure. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Exploitation requires Keycloak's fine-grained admin permissions model to be in use and an attacker who already holds a delegated administrator account that has user-management access but is specifically NOT granted the reset-password (manage credentials) permission - the vulnerability is that the credential-DELETE endpoint ignores that restriction. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | This is a genuine but moderate-priority authorization flaw (CWE-862) in Keycloak's Admin REST API, reported by Red Hat. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | No vendor-released patch version is provided in the supplied data; check Red Hat advisory https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/CVE-2026-94001 and Bugzilla https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2537169 for the fixed Keycloak, Red Hat Build of Keycloak, or RH-SSO 7 release and apply it as soon as available. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
