3DescriptionCVE.org
A flaw was found in the Quarkus Qute template engine. When the {#eval} section helper processes a sub-template, it fails to pass the parent template's content type information. This bypasses standard escaping mechanisms, allowing untrusted data to be output as raw, unescaped text. This vulnerability can lead to Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) and JSON Injection, potentially allowing a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code in a user's browser or manipulate data.
AnalysisAI
Cross-site scripting and JSON injection in the Quarkus Qute template engine stem from the {#eval} section helper failing to pass the parent template's content type to the sub-template it evaluates, so contextual escaping is skipped and untrusted data is emitted as raw HTML or JSON. The flaw reaches Red Hat Build of Quarkus and downstream Red Hat offerings that bundle Qute (Red Hat Build of Apache Camel 4 for Quarkus 3, Red Hat Build of Keycloak, Red Hat Build of Apicurio Registry 3 and Red Hat Fuse 7), but only where an application passes attacker-influenced data into {#eval}. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Exploitation requires a Quarkus application that uses the Qute template engine's {#eval} section helper to process a sub-template built from attacker-influenced/untrusted data; in that path {#eval} fails to propagate the parent template's content type, so contextual escaping is skipped and the data is emitted as raw HTML/JSON. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | This is a genuine but moderate-severity issue whose signals are internally consistent rather than conflicting. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | No vendor-released patch or fixed version is confirmed in the available data, so treat the Red Hat advisory (https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/CVE-2026-93432) and Bugzilla 2536859 as the authoritative source for fixed package builds and upgrade them as soon as Red Hat publishes them; because Qute is bundled transitively, updating the packaged Quarkus/Camel/Keycloak/Apicurio/Fuse build rather than a standalone library is what actually removes the flaw. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
