5DescriptionCVE.org
novel-plus through 5.3.3 contains an authorization bypass vulnerability in the BookController download endpoint that allows authenticated backend accounts to export complete book text including paid chapters. Attackers can supply a bookId and bookName to retrieve all chapter content without VIP or purchase verification, bypassing the permission checks and data-scope limits enforced elsewhere in the admin interface.
AnalysisAI
The BookController download endpoint in novel-plus (all versions through 5.3.3) omits authorization verification, allowing any authenticated backend admin account to export complete book text - including paid chapters - by supplying only a bookId and bookName parameter pair. This endpoint skips the VIP subscription and per-chapter purchase enforcement that the rest of the admin interface correctly applies, enabling unauthorized monetized-content extraction. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Exploitation requires a valid authenticated backend admin account on the novel-plus admin interface - unauthenticated users and front-end reader accounts cannot exploit this endpoint. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | The CVSS 4.0 base score of 5.3 (AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L) accurately reflects the core limiting factor: exploitation requires a valid backend admin credential, not unauthenticated network access. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | No vendor-released patch beyond v5.3.3 has been identified at time of analysis - operators should monitor the upstream repository at https://github.com/201206030/novel-plus and the VulnCheck advisory at https://www.vulncheck.com/advisories/novel-plus-through-5.3.3-missing-authorization-on-the-admin-book-download-endpoint for a patched release. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
