DescriptionCVE.org

A routing rule selects between two different authentication mechanisms for the same downstream service based on the value of a client-supplied request header, rather than on any property the client cannot control. An authenticated user in possession of a shared service credential can set this header to route around the primary role-based authorization check and reach the alternate path's fixed, elevated role instead. This allows a low-privileged authenticated attacker who knows the shared credential to perform actions reserved for a higher-privileged role.

AnalysisAI

Privilege escalation in an ICS API routing component (ICSA-26-254-01) allows a low-privileged authenticated attacker to bypass role-based authorization by manipulating a client-controlled HTTP header that governs authentication-path selection. The routing layer directs requests to one of two authentication backends based on a header the attacker fully controls; by setting that header to invoke the alternate path, the attacker assumes a fixed, elevated role and can perform actions restricted to higher-privileged users. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI

Exploitation Exploitation requires three concrete conditions to be simultaneously satisfied: (1) the attacker must hold a valid low-privileged authenticated account on the system (confirmed by PR:L in the CVSS 4.0 vector); (2) the attacker must possess the shared service credential associated with the alternate routing path - this is an additional prerequisite beyond the session credential and the primary practical limiting factor; and (3) the attacker must know the specific client-supplied header name and the value that triggers the alternate routing rule. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment.
Risk Assessment The CVSS 4.0 score of 7.1, driven entirely by VI:H with no confidentiality or availability impact, accurately scopes the risk to unauthorized privileged write operations. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in.
Exploit Scenario Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in.
Remediation The primary remediation is to apply the vendor-supplied patch referenced in CISA advisory ICSA-26-254-01; exact fixed version must be confirmed from the CSAF document at the referenced URL. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report.
