DescriptionCVE.org

AVideo through commit c3edcc274c389816d434acadac07ee78eaf330c1 contains a stored cross-site scripting vulnerability in the LoginControl plugin that fails to HTML-encode PGP public keys echoed into a textarea element. An authenticated attacker can inject malicious JavaScript by submitting a crafted public key, which executes in an administrator's session when viewing the user's profile tab.

AnalysisAI

Stored cross-site scripting in the LoginControl plugin of WWBN AVideo allows an authenticated low-privilege user to persist malicious JavaScript by submitting a crafted PGP public key, which is echoed unencoded into a textarea and executes in an administrator's browser session when the admin views the attacker's profile tab. This is a privilege-escalation vector - attacker-controlled script runs with admin session context, enabling account/platform takeover. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI

Exploitation Requires an authenticated account on the target AVideo instance (PR:L) with access to the LoginControl plugin's PGP public key submission field, and the LoginControl plugin must be enabled. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment.
Risk Assessment The supplied CVSS 4.0 vector (AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:P/VC:H/VI:H/VA:N/SC:H/SI:H/SA:N, score 9.3) reflects network reach, low complexity, but crucially requires attacker authentication (PR:L) and passive victim interaction (UI:P) - an administrator must view the malicious profile for the payload to fire. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in.
Exploit Scenario Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in.
Remediation No vendor-released patch version is identified at time of analysis; monitor GHSA-gq4h-vw2w-9rx3 and upgrade to the fixed release once published, ensuring the deployed build is newer than commit c3edcc274c389816d434acadac07ee78eaf330c1. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report.

Recommended ActionAI

Within 24 hours, inventory all WWBN AVideo deployments using the LoginControl plugin and disable it immediately if operationally feasible; simultaneously audit administrator session logs for evidence of unauthorized activity or unusual browser interactions. …
