3DescriptionCVE.org
Snipe-IT 8.6.3 and earlier do not check the return value of Storage::put() when writing the signature PNG and the generated acceptance PDF in Account\AcceptanceController::store(). On filesystem drivers that return false instead of throwing on a write failure (for example the local disk with restrictive permissions, S3 with expired credentials, or a storage backend that is out of quota), execution continues into $acceptance->accept(), which sets accepted_at and the signature_filename/eula_filename fields, creates the 'accepted' action-log entry, and dispatches completion notifications even though the evidence files were never stored. The result is an acceptance record marked complete whose supporting evidence files do not exist, yielding a materially incomplete compliance artifact for EULA acknowledgement or equipment-receipt workflows. The condition is triggered when an authenticated user completes an acceptance while the storage backend is silently failing writes; an attacker cannot directly force the storage backend into that state. Fixed in Snipe-IT 8.7.0.
AnalysisAI
Snipe-IT 8.6.3 and earlier silently produce false compliance artifacts when the configured storage backend fails to write acceptance evidence files. In Account\AcceptanceController::store(), the return value of Storage::put() is never checked; if the storage layer returns false rather than throwing an exception, execution proceeds unconditionally to $acceptance->accept(), which stamps the record as complete, records signature and PDF filenames, creates the audit-log entry, and dispatches notifications - all referencing evidence files that were never persisted. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Exploitation requires two simultaneous conditions: (1) an authenticated Snipe-IT user (PR:L) who completes an acceptance workflow via Account\AcceptanceController::store(); and (2) the configured storage backend must be silently returning false from Storage::put() rather than throwing an exception. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | The CVSS 4.0 score of 2.3 (AV:N/AC:L/AT:P/PR:L) accurately characterizes this as a very low-risk integrity issue. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | Upgrade to Snipe-IT 8.7.0, which is the vendor-released patch addressing this issue per GHSA-h543-58f9-v6mj. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
