Affected versions of MISP allow authenticated users to retrieve object-reference records by UUID through EventGraphTool::get_reference_data() without first checking whether the requester is authorized to view the object the reference belongs to.
The vulnerable code queried ObjectReference.uuid directly and returned the matching row whenever it existed. Because no parent-object ACL was applied, a user who knew or obtained a reference UUID could retrieve information associated with an object outside their normal access scope. The commit explicitly states that any object reference could be returned by UUID without authorizing its parent object.
The fix retrieves the referenced object's object_id and calls fetchObjectSimple() with the current user. If the user cannot access that parent object, MISP now returns NotFoundException instead of exposing the reference.
Version affected: ≤2.5.45
AnalysisAI
Authenticated users in MISP ≤2.5.45 can retrieve object-reference records outside their authorized scope via an Insecure Direct Object Reference (IDOR) flaw in EventGraphTool::get_reference_data(). The vulnerable code queried ObjectReference by UUID and returned the matching row without verifying the requesting user has access to the parent object the reference belongs to. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Exploitation requires a valid authenticated MISP user account (PR:L) on the target instance; unauthenticated access is not possible. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | The CVSS 4.0 score of 5.3 (PR:L/VC:L) accurately reflects the moderate and bounded nature of this vulnerability. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | Update MISP to a version incorporating commit c0cb5c9f8, which is the upstream fix; the exact patched release version is not independently confirmed from available input data, so administrators should verify the current release tag on the MISP GitHub repository and confirm it includes this commit. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
