The Dear Flipbook - PDF Flipbook, 3D Flipbook, PDF embed, PDF viewer plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the 'post_content (class attribute of .dvcss element)' parameter in all versions up to, and including, 2.4.30 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with contributor-level access and above, to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. The payload is embedded as a Base64-encoded JSON object in a CSS class name on a Custom HTML block; the frontend parseCSSElements() function decodes it client-side with atob() and JSON.parse() and renders the logo property as raw HTML, meaning no server-side or client-side sanitization intercepts the malicious script before DOM insertion.
AnalysisAI
Stored Cross-Site Scripting in the Dear Flipbook WordPress plugin (≤2.4.30) allows authenticated contributors to inject persistent JavaScript payloads that execute silently in any visitor's browser. The attack exploits the plugin's client-side parseCSSElements() function, which Base64-decodes JSON embedded in CSS class names of Custom HTML blocks via atob()/JSON.parse() and renders the logo property as raw innerHTML with no server-side or client-side sanitization intercept. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Exploitation requires a valid WordPress account with at minimum contributor-level privileges on a site running Dear Flipbook version 2.4.30 or earlier - contributors can create and publish Custom HTML blocks by default in standard WordPress configurations. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | The CVSS 6.4 (AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N) accurately reflects the scope-change element - attacker scripts execute in victims' browsers - while the PR:L requirement meaningfully limits mass exploitation to actors who already hold contributor-level WordPress credentials. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | Update the Dear Flipbook plugin to version 2.4.37 or later immediately; the specific sanitization changes to parseCSSElements() in dflip.js are documented in the WordPress SVN changeset at https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/changeset?reponame=&new=3641463%403d-flipbook-dflip-lite%2Ftags%2F2.4.37&old=3557511%403d-flipbook-dflip-lite%2Ftags%2F2.4.30. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
