DescriptionCVE.org

phpMyFAQ versions before 4.1.8 contain a stored cross-site scripting vulnerability in FaqHelper::convertOldInternalLinks() that calls html_entity_decode() on sanitized FAQ content, reversing entity-encoding protection. Authenticated users with FAQ editing privileges can inject JavaScript payloads that execute in the browsers of all users viewing the affected FAQ pages.

AnalysisAI

Stored cross-site scripting in phpMyFAQ before 4.1.8 allows authenticated FAQ editors to plant persistent JavaScript payloads that execute in every visitor's browser. The root cause is FaqHelper::convertOldInternalLinks() calling html_entity_decode() on content that was previously sanitized via entity encoding - effectively undoing the protection and re-introducing executable HTML. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI

Exploitation Exploitation requires an attacker to hold a phpMyFAQ account with FAQ editing privileges (PR:L). … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment.
Risk Assessment The CVSS 4.0 base score of 5.1 (Medium) reflects the authentication gate (PR:L - FAQ editing privileges required) and passive victim interaction (UI:P - viewing the page), which meaningfully reduce exploitability compared to unauthenticated or zero-interaction XSS. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in.
Exploit Scenario Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in.
Remediation Upgrade phpMyFAQ to version 4.1.8 or later, which resolves the decode-after-sanitize flaw in FaqHelper::convertOldInternalLinks(). … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report.

Threat intelligence, references, and detailed analysis are available after sign-in.
