Agent secrets and full environment variable disclosure justify C:H; complete configuration overwrite of victim agent justifies I:H; availability impact is minor (A:L).

4DescriptionCVE.org
In Jenkins 2.579 and earlier, LTS 2.568.2 and earlier, the REST API and CLI endpoints for updating agent configuration do not prevent a submitted configuration from overwriting a different agent by specifying that agent's name in the submitted XML document, allowing attackers with Agent/Configure permission on one agent to take over a different agent, gaining control of its configuration and obtaining access to its inbound agent secret and environment variables.
AnalysisAI
Agent configuration takeover in Jenkins 2.579 and earlier allows an attacker holding Agent/Configure permission on any single agent to overwrite any other agent's configuration by embedding the target agent's name in a crafted XML document submitted to the REST API or CLI update endpoints. Successful exploitation grants the attacker full control of the victim agent's configuration and exposes its inbound agent secret and environment variables - primitives that enable agent impersonation and lateral movement within the CI/CD infrastructure. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Exploitation requires the attacker to hold the Agent/Configure permission on at least one agent in the targeted Jenkins instance - this permission is commonly granted to developers managing their own pipeline infrastructure. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | The vendor-assigned CVSS 6.3 (AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:L/A:L) understates real-world impact: the C:L and I:L ratings do not adequately capture that inbound agent secrets and all environment variables are exposed (C:H) and that the victim agent's configuration is fully overwritten (I:H). … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | Upgrade to Jenkins 2.580 (weekly) or Jenkins LTS 2.568.3, as documented in the vendor advisory at https://www.jenkins.io/security/advisory/2026-09-02/#SECURITY-4025. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
