DescriptionNVD

Vulnerability in the Oracle BI Publisher product of Oracle Analytics (component: BI Platform Security). Supported versions that are affected are 8.2.0.0.0, 12.2.1.4.0 and 26.01.0.0.0. Easily exploitable vulnerability allows high privileged attacker with network access via HTTP to compromise Oracle BI Publisher. While the vulnerability is in Oracle BI Publisher, attacks may significantly impact additional products (scope change). Successful attacks of this vulnerability can result in takeover of Oracle BI Publisher. CVSS 3.1 Base Score 9.1 (Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability impacts). CVSS Vector: (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:H/UI:N/S:C/C:H/I:H/A:H).

AnalysisAI

High-privileged takeover of Oracle BI Publisher is possible through the BI Platform Security component in versions 8.2.0.0.0, 12.2.1.4.0 and 26.01.0.0.0, where an attacker who already holds administrative access on the instance can exploit the flaw over HTTP with a Critical CVSS 3.1 base score of 9.1 (AV:N/AC:L/PR:H/UI:N/S:C/C:H/I:H/A:H), taking over the application with full confidentiality, integrity and availability impact. Because the CVSS scope metric is changed (S:C), a successful compromise can extend beyond BI Publisher into additional integrated products rather than being contained by the BI Publisher trust boundary. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI

Exploitation Exploitation requires the attacker to already hold high-privilege (administrative) access to the Oracle BI Publisher instance (PR:H), plus network access over HTTP to the BI Platform Security component; no user interaction is needed and default configurations are affected once that privilege level is held. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment.
Risk Assessment The CVSS 3.1 base score is 9.1 (Critical) with vector AV:N/AC:L/PR:H/UI:N/S:C/C:H/I:H/A:H, and the score is well-calibrated: the network vector, low complexity, no user interaction, full C/I/A impact, and scope change (S:C) would push this toward 10.0, but the honest PR:H (high privileges required) metric correctly holds it at 9.1. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in.
Exploit Scenario Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in.
Remediation Apply the fixes published in Oracle's Critical Security Patch Update advisory for CVE-2026-83268 at https://www.oracle.com/security-alerts/cspusep2026.html; the advisory is the authoritative source for the exact patched build per platform, and because no explicit fixed version string is present in the provided intelligence, confirm the target patch level against the advisory (and your Oracle support entitlement) rather than assuming a version. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report.

Recommended ActionAI

Within 24 hours, inventory every Oracle BI Publisher instance and confirm which ones run version 8.2.0.0.0, 12.2.1.4.0 or 26.01.0.0.0, then immediately restrict HTTP/HTTPS access to the BI Publisher administrative interfaces so they are reachable only from trusted management networks or VPN segments and never from the public internet; simultaneously pull the current list of administrative accounts and verify none are shared, default, or dormant. …
