DescriptionCVE.org

ILIAS before versions 9.22, 10.10, and 11.3 contains a SQL injection vulnerability in the repository trash table where the table navigation sort field from HTTP requests is passed directly into the ORDER BY clause of a SQL query without validation against declared sortable columns. Authenticated users with write permission on any container can inject arbitrary SQL through the sort parameter, and because multi-statement execution is enabled in the database layer, stacked queries enable full database read and write access as well as administrator account takeover.

AnalysisAI

SQL injection in ILIAS e-learning platform versions before 9.22, 10.10, and 11.3 allows authenticated users holding write permission on any repository container to achieve full database compromise and administrator account takeover. The repository trash table's sort parameter is passed unsanitized into an ORDER BY clause, and because the ILIAS database layer has multi-statement execution enabled, stacked queries permit arbitrary DML and DDL - not merely data enumeration. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI

Exploitation The attacker must hold an active ILIAS session with write permission on at least one repository container object - a condition satisfied by standard instructor and student roles in typical ILIAS deployments. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment.
Risk Assessment The CVSS 4.0 score of 8.7 (AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H) is well-calibrated: network-reachable, low-complexity exploitation requiring only a low-privilege account with write access to any container - a threshold met by typical student or instructor roles in most ILIAS deployments. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in.
Exploit Scenario Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in.
Remediation Upgrade to ILIAS 9.22, 10.10, or 11.3 per the vendor-released patch documented at the ILIAS community portal (docu.ilias.de, patch refs obj_id=225630/225631/225632). … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report.
