Unauthenticated network-reachable endpoint with trivial injection and superuser DB execution yields full C/I/A impact; scope unchanged as impact stays within the database system.

R2R through 3.6.6 contains a stacked SQL injection vulnerability that allows unauthenticated attackers to execute arbitrary SQL statements by manipulating the index name parameter in the vector index creation endpoint. The index name is interpolated directly into a CREATE INDEX statement via string formatting without identifier quoting or allowlist validation, enabling arbitrary DDL and DML execution through semicolon-separated statements under the PostgreSQL superuser account.

AnalysisAI
Unauthenticated stacked SQL injection in SciPhi-AI R2R through version 3.6.6 lets remote attackers execute arbitrary SQL by manipulating the index name parameter of the vector index creation endpoint. Because the index name is interpolated directly into a CREATE INDEX statement and executed under the PostgreSQL superuser account, an attacker can run arbitrary DDL and DML via semicolon-separated statements, fully compromising the backing database. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Exploitation requires the R2R vector index creation endpoint to be network-reachable by the attacker; no authentication, user interaction, or non-default feature toggle is required per the CVSS vector (PR:N/UI:N/AT:N) and description. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | This is a genuine high-priority issue rather than an inflated high-CVSS score. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | No vendor-released patched version is identified in the available data, so the exact fix version cannot be cited; monitor the upstream GitHub issue (https://github.com/SciPhi-AI/R2R/issues/2308) and the VulnCheck advisory (https://www.vulncheck.com/advisories/r2r-sql-injection-via-vector-index-creation-endpoint) for a tagged release and upgrade to it as soon as it ships. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
Recommended ActionAI
Within 24 hours, identify all instances of R2R through version 3.6.6 in production and development environments and restrict network access to the vector index creation endpoint using firewall rules or network segmentation. …
