5DescriptionCVE.org
The Temporary Login Without Password WordPress plugin before 1.9.9 does not verify that the user requesting a temporary login holds network super admin rights before granting the new account those rights, allowing an administrator of a single site on a multisite network to take over the whole network. The same missing check also allows an existing account, including the attacker's own, to be promoted.
AnalysisAI
Privilege escalation in the Temporary Login Without Password WordPress plugin (versions 1.5 through 1.9.8) allows a site-level administrator on a WordPress multisite network to elevate their own account or grant a newly provisioned temporary login to network super admin status. The missing authorization check in the account-provisioning and account-promotion logic completely bypasses the multisite privilege boundary, enabling a subordinate site admin to seize control of the entire WordPress network without any additional user interaction. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Exploitation requires three specific conditions: (1) the target WordPress installation must be configured as a multisite network - single-site installations are entirely unaffected; (2) the Temporary Login Without Password plugin must be installed and active in a way that grants the attacker access to its management interface; (3) the attacker must hold existing site-administrator credentials on at least one subsite within the network (PR:H per CVSS vector). … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | The CVSS 3.1 base score of 7.2 (AV:N/AC:L/PR:H/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H) reflects the core tension: while the downstream impact is full CIA compromise of the entire multisite network, exploitation is gated behind existing site-administrator credentials (PR:H), which meaningfully constrains the exploitable population. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | Upgrade the Temporary Login Without Password plugin to version 1.9.9 or later, which introduces the missing network super admin capability check in the account-provisioning and role-assignment logic. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
