MITRE ATT&CK
2 techniques across 2 tactics: Initial Access, Execution The technique list with ATT&CK links and the kill-chain view is part of the Basic plan and up. |
| Exploitation Conditions | Exploitation requires the attacker to hold a valid, low-privileged authenticated MII account (PR:L) capable of submitting input that the application persists and later renders - a stored/second-order XSS sink. A successful attack also requires an authenticated victim (UI:R) to navigate to the specific page that displays the attacker-controlled stored content; the payload does not fire without that victim interaction. These two factors - mandatory pre-authentication for the attacker and a required victim visit - are the primary limits on real-world exploitation, and impact is confined to the victim's browser session scope (session data access, page content modification, and local denial of use) rather than direct server compromise. |
| Impact | This is a moderate-severity (CVSS 6.5) stored Cross-Site Scripting flaw in SAP Manufacturing Integration and Intelligence (MII). The CVSS vector (AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:L) indicates network-reachable, low-complexity exploitation but requires low-level privileges (PR:L) to store the payload and victim user interaction (UI:R) to trigger it. The scope change (S:C) reflects that injected script executes in the victim's browser context rather than the vulnerable server process, but all three impacts are rated Low. No EPSS score, KEV listing, or public POC was provided in the input, so there is no public exploit identified at time of analysis and no evidence of active exploitation. The combination of required authentication, mandatory victim interaction, and only low CIA impact places this below the priority tier of unauthenticated RCE-class issues: it should be patched on a normal SAP Security Patch Day cadence rather than as an emergency. Note that stored XSS in an industrial/manufacturing operations console can be meaningfully more dangerous than the Low ratings suggest if the victim holds elevated MII privileges - defenders should weigh the operational role of likely victims, not just the base score. |
| Exploit ScenarioDerived | An authenticated attacker with low-level access to SAP MII stores a malicious script payload in an input field that is persisted and later rendered by the application. When another authenticated user opens the page displaying that content, the script executes in their browser, letting the attacker read session data, alter the rendered page, or disrupt the victim's use of the application. No public exploit code was identified at time of analysis, and exploitation depends on the victim visiting the affected page (UI:R). |

Alert meAnalysisAIv1 – Oct 13, 2026
Stored cross-site scripting in SAP Manufacturing Integration and Intelligence (MII) lets an authenticated, low-privileged attacker persist malicious content that is later rendered and executed in the browser of an authenticated victim who opens the affected page. Scored CVSS 6.5 (AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:L), the flaw requires a valid low-privileged MII account to plant the payload plus victim navigation to the tainted page, so exploitation is limited to the victim's browser context: session information access, modified page content, and local disruption of the application, not server compromise. Exploitation status: no public exploit identified at time of analysis, and the issue is not listed in CISA KEV.
RemediationAI
Patch status per vendor advisory: apply the correction from SAP Note 3798823, released on SAP Security Patch Day (https://me.sap.com/notes/3798823, https://url.sap/sapsecuritypatchday), to every SAP MII instance, and confirm the exact fixed build or support-package level in that note, since the CVE record supplies no version number. Where immediate patching is not feasible, mitigations should map to the assessed prerequisites: because exploitation requires a valid low-privileged account (PR:L), audit and shrink the MII roles permitted to create or modify content that is later rendered to other users, so untrusted users cannot persist payloads in the first place; verify and, if necessary, reinforce output encoding on MII pages that display stored user-supplied content; and apply a restrictive Content Security Policy on the MII web tier to block inline script execution, accepting that legacy inline scripts or dashboard widgets may break and require testing. Shortening session lifetimes or forcing re-authentication limits the value of any browser session data an attacker could reach, and because the trigger depends on the victim opening the tainted page (UI:R), user awareness is a weak supplement only - none of these controls substitutes for applying the vendor fix.

Technical ContextAI · show details
SAP MII is SAP's manufacturing operations integration platform, used to link shop-floor systems, plant historians and enterprise ERP/SCM processes through dashboards, transactions, KPIs and web visualization layers, which makes it a natural sink for stored content rendered back to many users. The root cause is CWE-79 (Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation) in its stored, second-order form: input submitted by an authenticated low-privileged user is persisted by MII and later emitted into HTML for other users without adequate output encoding, so the injected payload is processed during page generation in the victim's browser context. Because the payload lives in the application rather than in a crafted URL, the victim does not need to click a malicious link, but must still load the specific page that displays the stored content (UI:R). The CVSS scope is marked Changed (S:C) precisely because the script executes in the victim's browser origin rather than on the MII server, which is why confidentiality, integrity and availability are each scored Low even though the vector is network-reachable. The advisory CPE cpe:2.3:a:sap_se:sap_manufacturing_integration_and_intelligence:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:* wildcards every version, so exact vulnerable and fixed build levels must be taken from the vendor note rather than inferred from the CVE record.

DescriptionCVE.org
Due to a Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability in SAP Manufacturing Integration and Intelligence, an attacker could store malicious content that is later rendered by the application. If an authenticated victim accesses a page that displays this stored content, the injected input is processed during web page generation, resulting in the execution of malicious content in the victims browser context. This could allow the attacker to access or modify information within the victims browser scope. Successful exploitation could allow the attacker to access session information, modify rendered page content and disrupt the victim's use of the application, resulting in a low impact on confidentiality, integrity and availability.
