baserCMS before 5.3.0 contains a SQL injection vulnerability in BcDatabaseService.php that allows authenticated administrators to inject attacker-controlled table names and configuration values directly into SQL statements across sequence update, CSV export, and table management operations. Attackers can chain a backup restore code injection flaw, where PHP code outside class definitions in schema files executes unconditionally upon loading, to plant malicious table names and trigger error-based SQL injection that retrieves database version, schema contents, and arbitrary data from the PostgreSQL backend.
AnalysisAI
SQL injection and chained code injection in baserCMS before 5.3.0 allow authenticated administrators to exfiltrate arbitrary data from a PostgreSQL backend via BcDatabaseService.php. The attack chains two flaws: a backup restore mechanism that unconditionally executes PHP code outside class definitions in schema files upon loading, enabling an admin to plant malicious table names, which are then passed unsanitized into SQL statements across sequence update, CSV export, and table management operations. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Exploitation requires a valid baserCMS administrator account - confirmed by the CVSS 4.0 PR:H metric. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | The CVSS 4.0 score of 8.6 with PR:H accurately reflects the high privilege requirement - exploitation is gated behind authenticated administrator access, which is the primary limiting factor. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | An attacker who has obtained baserCMS administrator credentials - through phishing, credential stuffing, or insider access - navigates to the backup restore functionality and uploads a crafted schema file containing PHP code outside class definitions; upon loading, this code executes unconditionally and plants an attacker-controlled table name into the CMS configuration. The attacker then triggers a database management operation (such as a sequence update or CSV export) that passes the poisoned table name unsanitized into a SQL query in BcDatabaseService.php, causing the PostgreSQL backend to return verbose error messages containing leaked database version strings, schema details, and sensitive table contents. … |
| Remediation | Upgrade baserCMS to version 5.3.0 or later, which is the vendor-confirmed patch for this vulnerability, available at https://github.com/baserproject/basercms/releases/tag/5.3.0. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
Recommended ActionAI
Within 24 hours: conduct an immediate audit of administrator accounts and disable any unnecessary or dormant accounts; enable comprehensive logging for all administrative actions including backup/restore operations; restrict database connectivity to explicitly approved management hosts and networks. …
