Network-reachable, low complexity; PR:L as any authenticated session suffices; no scope change since impact is confined to the attacker's own account; no availability impact.

WeGIA before 3.9.2 contains an authorization bypass vulnerability in the password change flow that allows any authenticated user to change their account password without providing existing credentials by exploiting the unconditional exclusion of the alterarSenha method from permission checks in controle/control.php. Attackers can manipulate the redir parameter to point to alterar_senha.php, routing through verificarSenhaConfig() instead of verificarSenha() to bypass current password verification and convert temporary session access into permanent account takeover.
AnalysisAI
Password change authorization bypass in WeGIA before 3.9.2 allows any authenticated user to permanently take over their own account - or one they hold temporary session access to - without supplying the existing password. The alterarSenha method is unconditionally excluded from permission checks in controle/control.php, and manipulating the redir parameter routes password-change requests through verificarSenhaConfig() rather than the credential-verifying verificarSenha(), stripping the old-password requirement entirely. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Exploitation requires an authenticated session in WeGIA at any privilege level - the vulnerability does not affect unauthenticated users. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | The CVSS 4.0 vector (AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:N) scores 8.6, reflecting a realistic threat model: network-reachable, low complexity, requires only a low-privilege authenticated session, and yields full account control. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | An attacker with any valid WeGIA session - including a low-privilege user, a guest, or someone who obtained temporary session access through a separate means - crafts an HTTP request to the password-change endpoint, setting the `redir` parameter to `alterar_senha.php`. This routes the request through `verificarSenhaConfig()`, which skips current-password verification, allowing the attacker to set an arbitrary new password for the account and establish permanent control. … |
| Remediation | The primary fix is to upgrade to WeGIA 3.9.2, which resolves the unconditional exclusion of `alterarSenha` from permission checks per the vendor release at https://github.com/LabRedesCefetRJ/WeGIA/releases#release-3.9.2 and security advisory GHSA-gfcx-7973-hjmp. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
