Osquery is primarily read-only endpoint querying, so I:H overstates integrity impact; downgraded to I:L reflecting unauthorized data stream access, not direct system modification.

2DescriptionCVE.org
Authorization Bypass Through User-Controlled Key (CWE-639) in Kibana can lead to unauthorized query execution against Elastic Agents that are assigned to a Kibana space the requesting user has no access to, via Accessing Functionality Not Properly Constrained by ACLs (CAPEC-1). A user who is authorized to run Osquery live queries in one space can have a query carried out on hosts belonging to another space, resulting in disclosure of information from those hosts to the Osquery results data stream.
AnalysisAI
Unauthorized Osquery live query execution in Elastic Kibana allows a low-privileged authenticated user to run endpoint queries against Elastic Agents assigned to Kibana spaces they have no authorization to access, violating the platform's space-based multi-tenancy access control model. By exploiting a user-controlled key authorization bypass (CWE-639 / CAPEC-1), an attacker can exfiltrate host telemetry - running processes, network connections, file system state - from isolated organizational spaces, with results written to the Osquery results data stream accessible to the attacker. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | The attacker must be an authenticated Kibana user (PR:L per CVSS vector) holding explicit Osquery live query execution permissions within at least one Kibana space. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | The CVSS 3.1 score of 6.8 (Medium) reflects a calibrated signal set: network-accessible (AV:N) but requiring prior authentication and elevated preconditions (AC:H, PR:L). … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | Upgrade Kibana to version 9.4.5 or later as documented in Elastic security advisory ESA-2026-97 at https://discuss.elastic.co/t/kibana-9-4-5-security-update-esa-2026-97/389537. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
