HTTP endpoint enables network exploitation; read-only credential is sufficient (PR:L); primary impact is schema integrity corruption and availability disruption, with minor confidentiality exposure from schema metadata.
Primary rating from Vendor (VulnCheck).

ArcadeDB before 26.7.2 fails to enforce the UPDATE_SCHEMA database permission on the ALTER TYPE ... CUSTOM and ALTER TYPE ... BUCKETSELECTIONSTRATEGY SQL operations, which map to setCustomValue and setBucketSelectionStrategy in LocalDocumentType. An authenticated user with only read access (e.g., a read-only API token) can submit these ALTER TYPE statements via the HTTP command endpoint to mutate a type's custom schema metadata and bucket-selection strategy, bypassing the documented updateSchema permission boundary and potentially corrupting schema metadata and record routing.
AnalysisAI
Permission bypass in ArcadeDB before 26.7.2 allows authenticated read-only users to execute privileged schema-mutation SQL operations that should require the UPDATE_SCHEMA permission. A user holding only a read-only API token can submit ALTER TYPE ... …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Exploitation requires a valid ArcadeDB credential with at minimum read-only database access - the CVE description explicitly names a read-only API token as sufficient. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | The provided CVSS 4.0 vector scores 8.5 (AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N), but contains a notable internal inconsistency: AV:L (local attack vector) conflicts with the vulnerability description, which explicitly names the HTTP command endpoint as the attack surface - an interface that is typically network-accessible. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | An attacker who has obtained a read-only ArcadeDB API token - through credential theft, insider access, or compromised automation - sends an HTTP POST to the database's command endpoint containing a crafted ALTER TYPE ... BUCKETSELECTIONSTRATEGY statement targeting a critical type. … |
| Remediation | Upgrade ArcadeDB to version 26.7.2 or later, which restores enforcement of the UPDATE_SCHEMA permission on ALTER TYPE ... … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
