| Exploitation Conditions | No special conditions - remote unauthenticated exploitation against default configurations of WeGIA versions prior to 3.8.6. The vulnerable endpoint web/html/socio/sistema/cadastro_cobranca.php requires no authentication and no user interaction, and accepts injectable input (valor, valor_pago, id_pessoa, id_socio, id_sociotipo) via POST through extract($_REQUEST). The only meaningful limiting factors are that the WeGIA instance must be network-reachable by the attacker and must be running a version below 3.8.6; upgrading to 3.8.6 (which introduces prepared statements and integer/float filtering) fully removes the condition. |
| Impact | All available signals point to a genuine high-priority vulnerability rather than an inflated CVSS score. The CVSS:3.1 vector (AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N) describes a network-reachable, low-complexity flaw requiring no privileges and no user interaction, and the description independently corroborates this: the vulnerable cadastro_cobranca.php endpoint is explicitly unauthenticated and takes attacker-controlled POST input via extract($_REQUEST) straight into UPDATE/INSERT/SELECT statements with no prepared statements (CWE-89). The source-code commit diff confirms the root cause and the fix (migration to mysqli_prepare with bound parameters), so the technical claim is strongly substantiated. Signals are internally consistent - there is no network-vs-local contradiction here. The limiting factors are external to the bug itself: no EPSS score was provided, the CVE is NOT in CISA KEV, and no public POC flag was supplied, so there is no evidence of active or at-scale exploitation. The dominant risk-reducer is product prevalence: WeGIA is a niche charity-management application, so real-world blast radius is small even though per-instance impact is severe. Net assessment: critical technical severity and trivially exploitable on any exposed instance, but prioritize based on whether your organization actually runs WeGIA rather than treating this as a broadly scanned internet-wide threat. |
| Exploit ScenarioDerived | A remote, unauthenticated attacker locates an internet-exposed WeGIA instance (prior to 3.8.6) and sends a crafted POST request to web/html/socio/sistema/cadastro_cobranca.php, injecting SQL through the valor, valor_pago, id_pessoa, id_socio, or id_sociotipo parameters. Because input flows through extract($_REQUEST) into unparameterized queries, the attacker can read billing records and stored credential data, tamper with payment amounts, or DROP/TRUNCATE tables to destroy application data. No public exploit identified at time of analysis, but the confirmed commit diff makes the vulnerable code path fully transparent to any attacker. |

Alert meAnalysisAIv1 – Oct 14, 2026
Unauthenticated SQL injection in WeGIA prior to 3.8.6 lets any remote attacker who can reach the application read, alter, or destroy its MySQL database through the billing endpoint web/html/socio/sistema/cadastro_cobranca.php. Because that endpoint is reachable without credentials (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H, 9.8) and passes the valor, valor_pago, id_pessoa, id_socio and id_sociotipo parameters straight into UPDATE, INSERT and SELECT statements, an attacker can exfiltrate billing records and credential data or truncate tables to cause application-wide data loss. No public exploit code was identified at time of analysis and there is no CISA KEV entry indicating active exploitation, but the low attack complexity and lack of authentication make prompt upgrading to 3.8.6 the priority action.
RemediationAI
Upgrade to WeGIA 3.8.6, which is the vendor-released patch for this issue: it eliminates extract($_REQUEST), casts codigo, valor and valor_pago through filter_var integer/float validation, and rewrites the cobrancas UPDATE as a parameterised mysqli_prepare statement (see https://github.com/LabRedesCefetRJ/WeGIA/releases/tag/3.8.6, https://github.com/LabRedesCefetRJ/WeGIA/pull/1705 and advisory https://github.com/LabRedesCefetRJ/WeGIA/security/advisories/GHSA-vjxh-wcf9-4qgq). If an immediate upgrade is not possible, block or restrict POST access to /html/socio/sistema/cadastro_cobranca.php at the reverse proxy or WAF while leaving legitimate billing workflows to a trusted administrative network - the trade-off is that staff can no longer create or update billing records from ordinary workstations until the path is re-enabled after patching. As a supplementary control, reduce the blast radius by granting the WeGIA database account only the privileges the application actually needs and revoking DROP and TRUNCATE, though this does not prevent the read and modify portions of the injection and may break maintenance scripts. Because the endpoint is unauthenticated by design in affected versions, network segmentation and restricting the application from direct internet exposure are also worthwhile interim measures, but none of these compensating controls replace the 3.8.6 upgrade.

Technical ContextAI · show details
WeGIA is a PHP web application backed by MySQL, and the vulnerable file web/html/socio/sistema/cadastro_cobranca.php combines two classic PHP anti-patterns: it calls extract($_REQUEST), which materialises every user-supplied GET/POST key as a local variable, and it then interpolates several of those variables (valor, valor_pago, id_pessoa, id_socio, id_sociotipo) directly into SQL text without prepared statements. That is the CWE-89 (SQL Injection) root cause: attacker-controlled input reaches the SQL parser as code rather than data, allowing arbitrary statement injection into the billing UPDATE, the pessoa INSERT, and the pessoa SELECT. The upstream fix in commit f819be361f984592c4b5a35db830495b4e2263fa removes extract() in favour of explicit $_POST reads, validates codigo, valor and valor_pago with filter_var(FILTER_VALIDATE_INT/FILTER_VALIDATE_FLOAT), and converts the billing UPDATE to a parameterised mysqli_prepare/mysqli_stmt_bind_param('sdsi') statement, which is the correct structural remediation for this class of defect. The tags supplied with the advisory (PHP, SQLi) are consistent with the CWE and with the affected technology stack.

Lifecycle Timeline
2DescriptionCVE.org
WeGIA is a web manager for charitable institutions. Prior to 3.8.6, the unauthenticated web/html/socio/sistema/cadastro_cobranca.php endpoint accepts POST input through extract($_REQUEST) and directly incorporates valor, valor_pago, id_pessoa, id_socio, and id_sociotipo into UPDATE, INSERT, and SELECT statements without prepared statements. A remote attacker can use the affected parameters to execute arbitrary SQL that reads or modifies WeGIA database content, including billing records and credential data. The same SQL access can delete or truncate tables, causing loss of application data. This issue is fixed in version 3.8.6.

Executive ViewAI
WeGIA versions prior to 3.8.6 expose a billing-module endpoint that any remote attacker reaching the application can use to read, alter, or destroy the underlying MySQL database without supplying credentials. The practical consequence is corrupted or lost billing and customer records, potential exposure of credential data, and application-wide outages that would disrupt finance, billing, and IT operations. Leadership should treat this as a time-boxed priority because the attack requires no authentication and is trivially repeatable, even though no public exploit has been identified at time of analysis.
Apply vendor patch (upgrade to WeGIA 3.8.6); if deployment cannot be completed immediately, restrict network access to the billing endpoint (web/html/socio/sistema/cadastro_cobranca.php) to trusted networks, place it behind an authenticated reverse proxy with SQL-injection filtering, and reduce the application's MySQL account to least privilege.
