3DescriptionCVE.org
Konga before 2.1.0 contains a privilege escalation vulnerability that allows low-privileged local attackers to execute arbitrary code by planting attacker-controlled OpenSSL configuration or library files in a hardcoded filesystem path absent from default installations. On Windows, the missing directory resides in a location writable by any authenticated local user, enabling attackers to create the directory and place malicious files that execute at the privilege level of the user or service account that launches Konga, facilitating privilege escalation.
AnalysisAI
Privilege escalation in Easybyte Software's Konga before 2.1.0 allows any authenticated local Windows user to execute arbitrary code at the privilege level of the account running Konga by planting attacker-controlled OpenSSL configuration or library files in a hardcoded filesystem path that is absent from default installations and resides in a location writable by all authenticated users. The root cause is CWE-427 (Uncontrolled Search Path Element): Konga loads OpenSSL from a fixed, predictable path without verifying the integrity or provenance of files found there, enabling a classic library-planting attack. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | The attacker must be an authenticated local or domain user on the Windows host where Konga is installed - remote, unauthenticated exploitation is not possible. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | The CVSS 4.0 vector (AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H) scoring 8.5 accurately reflects the realistic threat model: local access with low privileges is sufficient, complexity is low, and no attack requirements or user interaction are needed beyond planting the files. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | The primary fix is upgrading to Konga 2.1.0, available from the vendor's archive at https://public.easybyte.it/downloads/archive/2.1.0. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
