Description

Chamilo LMS is a learning management system. Prior to 1.11.38, there is a path traversal in main/exercise/savescores.php leading to arbitrary file feletion. User input from $_REQUEST['test'] is concatenated directly into filesystem path without canonicalization or traversal checks. This vulnerability is fixed in 1.11.38.

Analysis

Path traversal in Chamilo LMS main/exercise/savescores.php enables authenticated attackers to delete arbitrary files on the server. Vulnerable versions prior to 1.11.38 fail to sanitize the 'test' parameter from $_REQUEST, allowing directory traversal sequences to escape intended paths and target critical system or application files. …

Remediation

Within 24 hours: Identify all Chamilo LMS deployments and document current versions. Within 7 days: Upgrade Chamilo LMS to version 1.11.38 or later where patch is available; if upgrade is not immediately feasible, restrict network access to the /main/exercise/savescores.php endpoint to trusted administrators only via firewall or web application firewall rules. …
