2DescriptionCVE.org
The Powerkit plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the Lazy Load module's image processing in all versions up to, and including, 3.0.4. This is due to the 'content_process_images' function using a flawed regex-based HTML attribute parser. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Contributor-level access and above, to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.
AnalysisAI
Stored Cross-Site Scripting in the Powerkit WordPress plugin (all versions up to and including 3.0.4) allows authenticated Contributors to permanently embed malicious JavaScript into published pages via a flawed regex-based HTML attribute parser in the Lazy Load module's content_process_images function. Any site visitor who subsequently loads an injected page triggers script execution in their browser context, enabling session hijacking, credential theft, or malicious redirects. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Exploitation requires all of the following: (1) the Powerkit plugin is installed and active in a version at or below 3.0.4; (2) the Lazy Load module is enabled within Powerkit (module activation is reflected by the presence of the public class file); (3) the attacker holds at minimum a WordPress Contributor-level account on the target site, obtained through legitimate registration, credential compromise, or social engineering; and (4) a victim user must navigate to a page containing the attacker's published content for the payload to execute in their browser. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | The published CVSS score of 6.4 incorporates S:C (scope change into victim browser) which correctly reflects the cross-context nature of stored XSS; however, the provided vector includes UI:N, which is inconsistent with the description's explicit statement that the payload fires 'whenever a user accesses an injected page' - this implies UI:R and, if corrected, would reduce the base score to approximately 5.4. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | Upgrade the Powerkit plugin to the version incorporating WordPress plugin Trac changeset 3604146 (https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/changeset/3604146), which patches the flawed regex parser in `content_process_images`. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
