Description

The eswifi socket offload driver copies user-provided payloads into a fixed buffer without checking available space; oversized sends overflow `eswifi->buf`, corrupting kernel memory (CWE-120). Exploit requires local code that can call the socket send API; no remote attacker can reach it directly.

Analysis

Buffer overflow in Zephyr RTOS eswifi socket offload driver allows authenticated local attackers to corrupt kernel memory through oversized socket send operations. The vulnerability enables privilege escalation and denial of service via heap corruption, with high integrity and availability impact. …

Remediation

Within 24 hours: Inventory all Zephyr RTOS deployments using eswifi socket offload functionality and assess exposure to authenticated local users. Within 7 days: Implement network segmentation to restrict untrusted application access to socket APIs and apply OS-level privilege restrictions where feasible. …
