Brute-force protection bypass in Perforce Delphix Continuous Data lets remote attackers defeat the account lockout mechanism by firing concurrent authentication requests that race the failed-login counter, allowing unlimited password guessing against a targeted account. The flaw is a time-of-check/time-of-use race (CWE-307) rather than a direct code-execution bug, and no public exploit identified at time of analysis. It matters because it silently neutralizes a control administrators rely on to stop credential-stuffing and password-spraying.

DescriptionCVE.org

A race condition in the account lockout mechanism in Delphix Continous Data allowed the lockout threshold to be bypassed through concurrent authentication requests. Parallel login attempts were processed before the failed-login counter and lockout status were updated, defeating brute-force protections and enabling continued password guessing against a targeted account.

Executive ViewAI

Why It Matters

Perforce Delphix Continuous Data contains a race condition in authentication failure tracking that allows attackers to bypass the account lockout mechanism and conduct unlimited password attacks against targeted user accounts. This silently neutralizes a critical control organizations rely on to prevent credential stuffing, directly exposing privileged access to data management systems and the sensitive data they protect.

Recommended Action

Within 24 hours: Inventory all Delphix instances in production and identify highest-risk accounts (administrative, service accounts); enable detailed authentication logging and configure alerts for repeated failed login attempts per account. Within 7 days: Deploy network-level rate limiting on Delphix authentication endpoints, enforce multi-factor authentication for all access where supported, and restrict administrative access to hardened bastion hosts and private IP ranges; notify data governance and platform teams of the risk. Within 30 days: Monitor Perforce security advisories for patch availability, conduct a formal risk assessment of accounts that could be targeted, and develop a remediation timeline-prioritize patching as soon as a vendor fix is released or plan migration to alternative data management platforms if extended delay occurs.

Business Impact: High
Compensating Controls

No vendor-released patch identified at time of analysis. Interim mitigations: Implement network rate limiting on authentication endpoints to slow brute-force attempts; enforce multi-factor authentication for Delphix administrative and sensitive access; deploy real-time monitoring and alerting on failed login patterns per account; apply organization-wide password policies requiring minimum 16 characters and complexity; restrict Delphix network access to known IP ranges and hardened jump hosts; implement read-only access restrictions for non-privileged users until patch is available.

Emergency Immediate action required. Criteria: CRITICAL + in CISA KEV (actively exploited) without patch, OR CRITICAL + EPSS > 30% without patch, OR CRITICAL + active threat signals without patch.

This Week Schedule remediation this week. Criteria: HIGH severity (CVSS 7.0-8.9). Patch within normal change window.
This Month Plan within 30 days. Criteria: MEDIUM severity (CVSS 4.0-6.9), lower exploitation probability. Include in regular patch cycle.
Monitor Track and reassess. Criteria: LOW severity (CVSS 0.1-3.9), minimal exploitation risk. No immediate action needed.
