Exploitation Conditions

Exploitation requires an authenticated account with vendor-level privileges or higher - specifically the 'edit_stores' capability - on a WordPress site running the Dc Woocommerce Multi Vendor (MultiVendorX) plugin version 5.0.18 or earlier with the MarketplaceCompliance module active. The attacker must reach the /multivendorx/v1/compliance/report-abuse REST endpoint and control the 'order_by' parameter, which is injected into an ORDER BY clause where esc_sql() offers no protection. Limiting factors: the required vendor-level authentication excludes anonymous and low-privilege (subscriber/customer) users, so the realistic threat is a malicious or compromised vendor rather than an internet-wide unauthenticated attacker; sites not using the compliance/report-abuse feature or on patched versions are not exposed.

Impact

This is a moderate-priority issue rather than a top-tier emergency. The CVSS vector (AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N, C:H/I:N/A:N, score 6.5) describes a network-reachable, low-complexity attack that nonetheless requires authentication at vendor level ('edit_stores' capability), with impact limited to confidentiality (database read) and no integrity or availability effect. No EPSS score was provided in the input, and the vulnerability is not listed in CISA KEV, so there is no confirmed signal of active exploitation; likewise no public proof-of-concept is referenced. The signals are internally consistent - this is a real, exploitable SQLi (CWE-89) confirmed by Wordfence researchers reviewing the source, but the PR:L requirement meaningfully narrows the attacker population to users who already hold a vendor account on the marketplace, which is the primary factor keeping real-world risk below what the 'SQL injection' label alone might suggest. EPSS and KEV data are absent, so no exploitation-probability cross-check is possible; treat exploitation likelihood as unquantified rather than low.

Exploit ScenarioDerived

An attacker who registers or compromises a vendor-level account on a MultiVendorX marketplace sends a request to the /multivendorx/v1/compliance/report-abuse REST endpoint with a malicious 'order_by' value. Because the parameter is concatenated into an ORDER BY clause with only esc_sql() applied (which does not neutralize ORDER BY context), they inject subqueries to read sensitive data such as other users' credentials or PII from the WordPress database. No public exploit code is identified at time of analysis, but the flaw is confirmed by Wordfence source review and is straightforward to weaponize.

AnalysisAIv1 – Oct 02, 2026

Authenticated SQL injection in MultiVendorX (Dc WooCommerce Multi Vendor) 5.0.18 and earlier allows a vendor-level user holding the 'edit_stores' capability to inject arbitrary SQL through the 'order_by' parameter of the /multivendorx/v1/compliance/report-abuse REST endpoint, enabling extraction of sensitive data from the WordPress database. The flaw carries a CVSS 3.1 base score of 6.5 (network-reachable, low privileges required, high confidentiality impact, no integrity or availability impact) and there is no public exploit identified at time of analysis. Exposure is limited to sites running an affected version with the MarketplaceCompliance module active; sites that never use the report-abuse feature, or that have updated past 5.0.18, are not affected, and the realistic threat is a malicious or compromised vendor account rather than an unauthenticated internet-wide attacker.

RemediationAI

Upstream fix available (PR/commit); a released patched version is not independently confirmed - the vendor changeset at https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/changeset?reponame=&old=3721134%40dc-woocommerce-multi-vendor&new=3721134%40dc-woocommerce-multi-vendor modifies the affected code, so administrators should update MultiVendorX to the first release after 5.0.18 as soon as it appears in the WordPress plugin repository and verify the changelog confirms the report-abuse ORDER BY handling was corrected (no exact fixed version number is stated in the available data). Until that build is installed, the most effective compensating control is to disable or deactivate the MarketplaceCompliance / report-abuse functionality (or the plugin itself if the feature is not used), which removes the vulnerable REST route but also removes the abuse-reporting capability from vendors; alternatively, restrict access to the /multivendorx/v1/compliance/report-abuse endpoint at the web server or WAF layer and reject requests whose order_by parameter contains SQL keywords, commas, parentheses, or comment markers, though such filtering is bypass-prone and carries a risk of blocking legitimate sorting. Because exploitation requires the 'edit_stores' capability, reviewing vendor accounts and removing or downgrading untrusted vendors (and auditing for unexpected SQL errors or anomalous queries against the affected route) reduces the attack surface, but this is a containment measure rather than a fix and does not protect a site from a malicious vendor who legitimately holds that role.

Technical ContextAI · show details

The vulnerability is a classic CWE-89 SQL injection whose root cause is the unsafe handling of a SQL identifier context rather than of a value. The plugin's MarketplaceCompliance module builds a database query for the compliance/report-abuse REST route and appends the user-supplied 'order_by' request parameter directly into an ORDER BY clause (see Util.php line 98 and Rest.php line 119 in the 5.0.8 tag of dc-woocommerce-multi-vendor). Because ORDER BY column names cannot be bound with prepared-statement placeholders, the developers appear to have relied on esc_sql() for sanitization - but esc_sql() only neutralizes characters that would break out of quoted string literals, so it provides no protection when the value is inserted into an unquoted identifier position. An attacker who controls the parameter can therefore terminate the intended ORDER BY expression and append additional SQL, turning the query into an arbitrary read primitive. The request reaches the code through the WordPress REST API as part of the MultivendorX (WooCommerce Multivendor Marketplace AI Powered Solutions) plugin, identified in CPE data as wcmp:multivendorx_-_woocommerce_multivendor_marketplace_ai_powered_solutions, and is tracked in the EUVD catalog as EUVD-2026-91246.

DescriptionCVE.org

The Dc Woocommerce Multi Vendor plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to SQL Injection via the 'order_by' parameter of the /multivendorx/v1/compliance/report-abuse REST endpoint in versions up to and including 5.0.18. This is due to insufficient escaping on the user supplied parameter and lack of sufficient preparation on the existing SQL query - the value is concatenated directly into an ORDER BY clause where esc_sql() (which only neutralizes characters needed to break out of quoted string literals) provides no protection. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with vendor-level access and above (users granted the 'edit_stores' capability), to append additional SQL queries into already existing queries that can be used to extract sensitive information from the database.
