| Exploitation Conditions | Exploitation requires that the victim hold an active, signed-in NocoDB session and then visit an attacker-controlled page; the attacker needs no authentication to host that page. The enabling condition is a default-configuration weakness: NocoDB before 2026.08.0 emits neither an X-Frame-Options header nor a CSP frame-ancestors directive on any response - including the authenticated application shell served by gui.middleware.ts and API responses from global.middleware.ts and the on-prem variant - so no origin is excluded from framing a signed-in session. Limiting factors that reduce realistic risk: mandatory user interaction (the victim must be induced to click through an invisible overlay, UI:P), the need for a concurrently authenticated victim, and impact confined to actions the victim's own account can perform (record edits/deletes, sharing changes, collaborator invites); there is no confidentiality or availability impact. |
| Impact | This is a medium-severity clickjacking issue (CWE-1021) with a vendor-provided CVSS 4.0 score of 5.3, and the signals consistently point to a real-but-moderate priority rather than an emergency. The CVSS 4.0 vector (AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:P) shows a network-reachable flaw requiring no attacker authentication but mandating victim interaction (UI:P), with only limited integrity impact (VI:L) and no confidentiality or availability impact - consistent with UI-redressing rather than direct code or data compromise. No EPSS score was supplied, there is no CISA KEV listing, and no working exploit code is provided, so there is no evidence of active or automated exploitation; the GHSA advisory describes the mechanism but does not publish a weaponized PoC. The vuln.today decision label is 'this_month', which aligns with a patch-on-normal-cadence posture rather than immediate action. The one point to watch: exploitation depends entirely on socially engineering an already-authenticated user into visiting a malicious page and clicking through an invisible overlay, so real-world impact hinges on the attacker luring a logged-in victim - a targeted, interaction-dependent scenario rather than mass remote compromise. |
| Exploit ScenarioDerived | An attacker hosts a malicious web page that transparently frames the authenticated NocoDB interface (which ships no X-Frame-Options or CSP frame-ancestors headers) beneath decoy content. A NocoDB user with an active session is lured to the page and tricked into clicking elements that, unknown to them, actuate NocoDB actions - deleting or modifying records, altering sharing settings, or inviting a collaborator. No public working exploit code is identified at time of analysis, though the mechanism is fully documented in the vendor GHSA advisory. |

Alert meAnalysisAIv1 – Oct 30, 2026
Clickjacking in NocoDB before 2026.08.0 lets any external origin embed the authenticated web interface in a frame and overlay it with attacker-controlled content, so a signed-in user can be induced into clicking through to actions in their own session - modifying or deleting records, changing sharing settings, or inviting a collaborator. The enabling weakness is that no X-Frame-Options header and no Content-Security-Policy frame-ancestors directive was emitted on any response, including the application shell served by gui.middleware.ts and API responses from global.middleware.ts, so nothing told a browser which origins may frame a signed-in session. Exploitation requires a victim who holds an active NocoDB session to visit an attacker-hosted page (the attacker needs no authentication of their own); the vendor scores it 5.3 under CVSS 4.0, no public exploit code has been identified at time of analysis, and impact is confined to integrity actions the victim's own account could already perform.
RemediationAI
Upgrade NocoDB to 2026.08.0 or later, which is the release the vendor lists as fixed (https://github.com/nocodb/nocodb/releases/tag/2026.08.0); the fix is carried by upstream commit 42128735eba328d157c2e90b98795cb248dc0847, and the vulnerability details are in advisory GHSA-3rj6-rvwh-j2xg. Because the defect spans middleware layers, confirm after upgrading that both the GUI shell and the API responses actually carry frame-control headers - pay particular attention to self-hosted/on-prem deployments and to any reverse proxy or ingress in front of NocoDB, which could otherwise re-strip or override them, and verify that the intentionally embeddable shared-view and shared-base iframe snippets still render for the origins the deployment permits, since an over-broad frame-ancestors or X-Frame-Options setting will break those legitimate embeds. The vendor advisory as supplied does not document any configuration workaround for versions before 2026.08.0, so upgrading is the complete fix; where an upgrade cannot be staged immediately, the exposure is bounded by the requirement that the victim hold a live authenticated session and actively click through the overlay, and by the fact that the resulting impact is limited to integrity actions within that user's own permissions. NocoDB is tracked at the 'this_month' priority with a vendor CVSS 4.0 score of 5.3, so this is a scheduled-maintenance fix rather than an emergency response.

Technical ContextAI · show details
The issue is CWE-1021 (Improper Restriction of Rendered UI Layers or Frames), the classic clickjacking class: a web application fails to tell the browser whether its pages may be embedded by other origins, so an attacker page can stack an invisible iframe of the target over a decoy UI and harvest clicks made in the victim's authenticated context. Browsers honour two mechanisms for this - the legacy X-Frame-Options response header (DENY/SAMEORIGIN) and the CSP frame-ancestors directive, which supersedes it and allows a per-origin allowlist - and NocoDB before 2026.08.0 sent neither on any response. Per the vendor advisory, the served application shell is produced by gui.middleware.ts, which terminates the request before the global middleware chain runs, so the response that actually renders the authenticated interface escaped whatever global header logic existed; API responses from global.middleware.ts and from the on-prem variant likewise carried no frame restriction. The design also drew no distinction between routes that are intentionally embeddable (the shared-view and shared-base links offered as iframe snippets in the share dialog) and the rest of the interface, so frame-ancestors could not simply be set to DENY across the board. Affected product identification is cpe:2.3:a:nocodb:nocodb:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:* for all versions below 2026.08.0, across the hosted and self-hosted deployment variants. Note that threat-feed tags attach an XSS label to this record, but the advisory, the CWE, and the CVSS vector all describe clickjacking, so the XSS tag should not be treated as describing a separate injection flaw in this CVE.

DescriptionCVE.org
NocoDB before 2026.08.0 contains a clickjacking vulnerability that allows any origin to frame the authenticated interface because no X-Frame-Options or CSP frame-ancestors headers are sent. Attackers can overlay a signed-in user's session from a malicious page, tricking clicks that modify or delete records, change sharing settings, or invite collaborators.
