MITRE ATT&CK
1 technique across 1 tactic: Privilege Escalation The technique list with ATT&CK links and the kill-chain view is part of the Basic plan and up. |
| Exploitation Conditions | Requires a valid authenticated session/token for the PipesHub API carrying the crawl:write OAuth scope (PR:L); no user interaction and no connector:delete scope are needed because the schedule route skips both the scope check and the connector-lock guard. The attacker must target a connectorId they can already pass validateConnectorAccess for - their own personal connector, or a team connector if they are an org admin - so the vulnerability escalates a low-privilege crawl:write token into connector destruction rather than allowing arbitrary deletion of any tenant's connectors. Exploitation is limited to affected versions >= 0.3.0 and <= 0.9.1; 0.10.0 and later take the event action from the stored connector instance and drop malformed event names, closing the vector. The path parameter safe-guard allows a dot through, which is what permits the web.delete injection. |
| Impact | This is a genuine authorization/access-control bypass (CWE-862/863, also CWE-20) in PipesHub, rated 7.1 by the vendor via CVSS 4.0 (AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:N/VI:L/VA:H). The signals are internally consistent and point to a real but bounded priority: network-reachable API, low complexity, no user interaction, but it requires an authenticated token carrying the crawl:write scope (PR:L), so it is not remote-unauthenticated. The impact is destructive - deletion of connector instances plus purging of indexed records and embeddings - hence high availability impact and low integrity impact, with no confidentiality exposure. A detailed, executed proof-of-concept is published in the vendor's own GHSA advisory (verbatim request/response steps reproducing deletion), which raises practical exploitability for anyone who already holds a low-privilege token. There is no CISA KEV listing and no EPSS score was provided in the input, so there is no evidence of active or widespread exploitation at time of analysis; the vuln.today decision label is 'this_week', consistent with a patched, PoC-backed, non-KEV flaw. Net: a credible insider/low-privilege-token escalation-to-destruction issue worth prompt patching, not an emergency internet-wide exposure. One nuance to verify operationally: the schedule route still runs validateConnectorAccess on the connectorId, so the attacker can only destroy connectors they are already authorized to touch (own personal connectors, or team connectors if admin) - the bypass is of the connector:delete scope and lock guard, not of connector ownership. |
| Exploit ScenarioDerived | An authenticated PipesHub user (or a compromised/over-scoped integration token) that holds only the crawl:write scope sends a normal schedule request but sets the :connector path segment to a value like web.delete. The service builds the event web.delete.resync, the Python consumer reads the second segment as the action, and runs the delete handler - destroying the targeted connector instance along with its graph records and vector embeddings, without ever needing the connector:delete scope or passing the connector-lock guard. A working, executed PoC with verbatim HTTP steps is published in the vendor GHSA advisory. |

Alert meAnalysisAIv1 – Oct 30, 2026
PipesHub 0.3.0 through 0.9.1 allows an authenticated user holding only the crawl:write OAuth scope to permanently destroy a connector instance and purge its graph records and embeddings by sending a crafted :connector path segment to the crawling manager schedule route. A value such as web.delete is concatenated into the published event type (web.delete.resync), which the Python connector service splits on the dot and dispatches to its delete handler, bypassing both the connector:delete scope check and the connector-lock guard enforced by the sanctioned DELETE /api/v1/connectors/:id endpoint. The privilege escalation is bounded to connectors the caller can already pass validateConnectorAccess for (their own personal connector, or an org admin's team connector); the vendor fixed the flaw in 0.10.0 by deriving the event action from the stored connector instance, and the advisory includes a verified, executed proof-of-concept walkthrough. The vulnerability is not listed in CISA KEV, and no EPSS score was supplied.
RemediationAI
Vendor-released patch: upgrade to PipesHub 0.10.0 or later (fixed version per the advisory and release tag https://github.com/pipeshub-ai/pipeshub-ai/releases/tag/v0.10.0). The fix is upstream commit 967232f4cb0fc2d0da5ebc30990417a349d6c56a, which stops reading the event action from the :connector path segment, reads the connector type from the stored connector instance returned by validateConnectorAccess, rejects scheduling when that type is missing with a 400 BadRequestError, and hardens the Python consumer to drop any event name that is not exactly <type>.<action>. The vendor advisory explicitly states there are no workarounds and that upgrading to the patched release is the only remedy, so no compensating configuration is documented; until the upgrade is applied, the only exposure-reduction lever available short of patching is to audit and narrow which users and integrations are issued tokens carrying the crawl:write scope, since exploitation is gated on that scope plus the caller's existing ability to pass validateConnectorAccess for the target connectorId. Given the destructive availability impact (VC:N/VI:L/VA:H) and the priority signal of this_week, schedule the 0.10.0 upgrade accordingly, and review logs for schedule requests whose :connector segment contains a dot or otherwise does not match the connector instance's real type, plus unexpected connector deletions and embedding purges.

Technical ContextAI · show details
PipesHub is a Node.js/TypeScript backend (backend/nodejs) fronting a Python connector service (backend/python) over an event bus. The crawling manager route POST /api/v1/crawlingManager/:connector/:connectorId/schedule is protected by an auth middleware and requireScopes(CRAWL_WRITE); the body schema is validated, but the :connector path segment is only screened by safe-path-params.middleware.ts, which exists to stop a value from breaking out of a URL path and therefore blocks / \ ?
% and control characters while deliberately allowing dots and spaces (needed for names like 'SHAREPOINT ONLINE'). utils.ts concatenates that raw value into the event type (connector.replace(' ','').toLowerCase() + '.resync'), and the Python consumer in event_service.py splits the type on '.' and treats parts[1] as the action, ignoring the trailing literal 'resync' that the producer appended. Passing 'web.delete' therefore yields the event web.delete.resync and invokes _handle_delete, which calls graph_provider.delete_connector_instance, marks records for deletion and queues vector cleanup for the embeddings. The root causes map to CWE-862 (missing authorization) and CWE-863 (incorrect authorization), with CWE-20 (improper input validation) covering the unvalidated action selector: the route authorizes the connectorId but never checks the path-supplied name against that instance, so the two can disagree. The vendor also notes that on 0.9.1 and earlier the connectorName field of POST /connectors/:id/resync reached the same consumer; from 0.10.0 that field can no longer select the action, and the consumer additionally drops any event name that is not exactly <type>.<action>. The affected package is tracked as cpe:2.3:a:pipeshub-ai:pipeshub-ai with a wildcard version range.

DescriptionCVE.org
PipesHub 0.3.0 before 0.10.0 contains an event type injection vulnerability that allows authenticated users with only the crawl:write scope to delete connectors by injecting into the :connector path segment. Attackers can send a :connector value like web.delete to the schedule route, bypassing connector:delete and lock checks to remove connector instances and purge record embeddings.

Executive ViewAI
A high-severity vulnerability in PipesHub (versions 0.3.0 through 0.9.1) enables authenticated users with limited permissions to permanently destroy connectors and their associated data. This could lead to data loss and operational disruption, affecting teams relying on PipesHub for data integration. Leadership should prioritize patching to prevent potential incidents and comply with internal security policies.
