| Exploitation Conditions | Requires a valid authenticated Trudesk account of any privilege level (PR:L) - no admin role, group membership in the target ticket's group, user interaction, or non-default configuration is needed, because the apiTickets.single handler omits the group-membership check in default installations through v1.2.11. The attacker only needs network access to the /api/v1/tickets/:uid endpoint and the ability to iterate sequential, predictable ticket uids. Limiting factors that reduce real-world risk: exploitation is gated behind authentication (an attacker must register or compromise at least one account), impact is read-only disclosure of ticket data (no modification, deletion, or code execution), and it affects only Trudesk instances at or below version 1.2.11. |
| Impact | This is a medium-severity authenticated information-disclosure flaw (IDOR / CWE-639), and the signals are internally consistent rather than conflicting. The provided CVSS 4.0 vector (AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N) and the 5.3 score agree with the description: network-reachable, low attack complexity, no user interaction, but requires an authenticated account (PR:L) and yields only confidentiality impact (VC:L; VI:N/VA:N) with no scope change. No EPSS score was supplied, and the CVE is NOT on CISA KEV, so there is no evidence of active or widespread exploitation. The references include a public technical write-up (hackmd) and a pointer to the exact vulnerable source lines, which lowers the research barrier, but no weaponized exploit tool was provided in the input. Net assessment: a genuine but bounded priority - trivial for any logged-in user to abuse and to automate via sequential uid enumeration, yet gated behind authentication and limited to reading ticket data (no write, no code execution, no system compromise). It warrants prompt patching for multi-tenant/self-hosted help-desk deployments but does not rise to drop-everything criticality. Missing data to note explicitly: EPSS probability is absent, and POC/active-exploitation status is not flagged in the input beyond the explanatory write-up. |
| Exploit ScenarioDerived | A low-privileged but authenticated Trudesk user (e.g., a regular agent or an attacker who registered/compromised any single account) issues GET /api/v1/tickets/:uid and iterates through sequential ticket uids. Because the apiTickets.single handler skips group-membership checks, the attacker harvests the subject, issue body, comments, owner, and assignee of every ticket in the system, including those belonging to other groups or tenants. A public technical write-up documenting the exact endpoint and vulnerable code exists, making this straightforward to reproduce and script, though no packaged exploit tool was provided in the input. |

Alert meAnalysisAIv1 – Oct 21, 2026
Any authenticated Trudesk user can read tickets belonging to groups they are not a member of - subject, issue body, comments, ticket owner and assignee - by simply iterating sequential ticket IDs against GET /api/v1/tickets/:uid, and every release through 1.2.11 is affected. The apiTickets.single handler omits the group-membership check entirely, making this a textbook IDOR (CWE-639) instead of an injection or memory-safety bug, so attacker impact is limited to read-only disclosure with no modification or code execution. Risk is medium (CVSS 5.3; our assessment CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:N/A:N): the only prerequisite is a valid account at any privilege level, no public exploit code or confirmed active exploitation has been identified at time of analysis, and instances that permit self-registration or host many low-privilege accounts should be treated as the highest exposure.
RemediationAI
No vendor-released patch or fixed version has been identified at time of analysis - Trudesk 1.2.11 is the highest version referenced in the available intelligence, so verify against the upstream repository (https://github.com/polonel/trudesk) and the VulnCheck advisory (https://www.vulncheck.com/advisories/trudesk-through-1.2.11-authorization-bypass-via-get-api-v1-tickets-uid) before assuming a fix exists. Where the codebase is under your control, the direct fix is to add the missing group-membership check to the apiTickets.single handler so the ticket lookup is scoped to the caller's groups (or to an explicit per-ticket ACL) before the document is returned. Compensating controls, with trade-offs: disable open self-registration and require administrator provisioning of accounts, which removes the easy path to a valid low-privilege session but adds onboarding overhead; restrict or block external access to /api/v1/tickets/* at the reverse proxy so only trusted networks or VPN clients can reach the endpoint, which cuts the attack surface but breaks remote helpdesk workflows; replace sequential numeric uids with unguessable UUIDs in the response model so enumeration ceases to be trivial, though this requires a schema and client change and is only obscurity around the missing authorization check; and monitor API logs for one account walking consecutive ticket uids, which detects rather than prevents abuse. Because exploitation is authenticated, auditing existing accounts, rotating credentials of dormant users and enforcing MFA on the Trudesk login are practical interim reductions of the prerequisite risk.

Technical ContextAI · show details
Trudesk is a Node.js helpdesk/ticketing application (project by polonel) whose REST API is implemented in Express-style controllers backed by MongoDB/Mongoose. The vulnerable route is GET /api/v1/tickets/:uid, served by the apiTickets.single handler in src/controllers/api/v1/tickets.js (lines 721-740 at tag v1.2.11). That handler looks up a ticket by its uid and returns it, but never verifies that the requesting user belongs to the group that owns the ticket - the group-scoping filter that should constrain the query is simply absent. This maps to CWE-639 (Authorization Bypass Through User-Controlled Key): the ticket uid in the URL path is the key, ticket uids are sequential/predictable, and the server trusts the client-supplied key without an accompanying object-level authorization check. Because the flaw is a missing check in a per-object read handler, it is not caught by any generic input validation, and the same response payload leaks subject, issue text, comments and owner/assignee metadata. The CVSS:4.0 vector supplied with the CVE (AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:L) matches our reassessment under CVSS:3.1 (AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:N/A:N): network reachable, low attack complexity, low privileges required, no user interaction, confidentiality-only impact confined to the vulnerable component.

1DescriptionCVE.org
Trudesk through 1.2.11 contains an authorization bypass vulnerability that allows authenticated users to read tickets outside their groups via GET /api/v1/tickets/:uid. Attackers can enumerate sequential ticket uids to read every ticket's subject, issue, comments, owner and assignee, because the apiTickets.single handler skips group membership checks.
