Exploitation Conditions

Requires an authenticated account holding the default 'customer' role (which carries 'edit own users') on Rapyd Admin 9.0.0 through 9.19.x; per the vendor changelog self-registration is open, so any attacker can obtain this role. Exploitation then needs only that the UsersModalEditEmbed Livewire component be reachable and that target user IDs be guessed - IDs are sequential and predictable, so no additional information is required. Limiting factors: the attacker must be a logged-in member (not fully unauthenticated), and instances upgraded to 9.20.0 (or 9.19.0, where the fix landed) are not exploitable because id resolution is now bound to the caller's authority; no other non-default configuration is needed.

Impact

This is a genuine high-priority issue despite a non-critical numeric score. The provided CVSS 4.0 vector (AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H, score 8.7) shows network-reachable, low-complexity exploitation requiring only low privileges (PR:L) and no user interaction, with high confidentiality/integrity/availability impact on the vulnerable system. The PR:L is the single factor keeping this below critical, but the vendor's own changelog states registration is open and the default 'customer' role (which every registered member holds) is sufficient - so the authentication barrier is effectively trivial to satisfy. The flaw is a classic IDOR (CWE-639): sequential, predictable user IDs taken from the browser with only a permission check, making exploitation deterministic and highly automatable. No EPSS score, CISA KEV listing, or public POC was provided in the input, so there is no confirmed active exploitation; however, the absence of these signals does not lower the intrinsic risk given how simple and reliable the attack is. Note the input Tags label this 'Authentication Bypass' while the description and CWE-639 make clear it is an authorization (access control) bypass by an already-authenticated user - these are distinct, and the tag is imprecise.

Exploit ScenarioDerived

An attacker registers an ordinary account (default customer role) on a Rapyd Admin 9.x instance, then uses the UsersModalEditEmbed Livewire component to dispatch editUser against a guessed low, sequential user id belonging to the company owner or super admin, resetting that account's password or promoting their own account to owner. No public exploit code was identified in the provided data, but the attack requires only knowledge of the Livewire action names and predictable IDs. Given AV:N/AC:L/PR:L, it is remotely and reliably reproducible by any authenticated member.

AnalysisAIv1 – Oct 14, 2026

Rapyd Admin 9.0.0 through 9.19.x lets an authenticated company member holding the default customer role hijack arbitrary accounts through the Livewire UsersModalEditEmbed component: editUser, save and deleteUser trust a user id supplied by the browser and validate only a permission, so a low-privileged member can reset an owner's or super admin's password, promote themselves to owner, and delete users. Exploitation requires a logged-in account with the default customer role (which carries edit own users) and predictable sequential user ids - per the vendor changelog public self-registration is open, so any attacker can obtain that role, and no other non-default configuration is needed. No public exploit code was identified at time of analysis and the issue is not confirmed as actively exploited (not in CISA KEV); vendor-released fix: 9.20.0 (the changelog attributes the security release to 9.19.0).

RemediationAI

Upgrade to Rapyd Admin 9.20.0 (vendor release https://github.com/zofe/rapyd-admin/releases/tag/v9.20.0, fix commit acd6ee85f9e5ccec67199673b039c605d161406a); note that the upstream changelog places the security fix in the 9.19.0 release, so treat 9.19.0-or-later as the patched baseline and confirm which tag your deployment can adopt. Because the flaw allows password resets, self-promotion to owner and account deletion, upgrade alone is insufficient: immediately rotate passwords for every owner and super admin account, audit users for unexpected owner or admin role assignments and for deleted accounts, and - as the vendor explicitly recommends - change the password of the seeded admin@laravel account or delete it, since the same release fixed that default credential (admin@laravel / admin, previously recreated by every rpd:make) and review any user name or rich-text value containing markup (the release also patched two stored XSS paths). If patching must be deferred, compensating controls are: disable open self-registration so attackers cannot obtain the customer role, remove the edit own users permission from non-owner roles (side effect: members can no longer manage their own profile), and restrict or block access to the company user-management Livewire endpoints (side effect: legitimate administrator workflows on those pages stop working) - all of these reduce but do not eliminate exposure, since any authenticated member with a reachable UsersModalEditEmbed component remains able to target sequential ids.

Technical ContextAI · show details

Rapyd Admin is a Laravel-based administration panel (zofe/rapyd-admin) whose company/user management screens are implemented as Laravel Livewire components. The flaw is CWE-639 (Authorization Bypass Through User-Controlled Key, i.e. an insecure direct object reference): in app/Modules/Companies/Livewire/UsersModalEditEmbed.php (lines ~27-81 in v9.19.0) the editUser, save and deleteUser methods accepted the target user id from the browser and performed only a permission check, never binding the id to the caller's authority. Since the customer role carries edit own users, a member could reach the owner of its own company, accounts of other tenants, and the super admin; sequential, predictable user ids made target enumeration trivial. The users_table_embed.blade.php icons (lines ~17-20) exposed the same entry points. The upstream commit resolves ids through the caller instead (super admin administers anyone, a company owner its members, everyone else only themselves), validates role against rapyd.companies.roles with only an owner or super admin able to grant owner, and forces company_id to the caller's company. The same security release also fixed a related privilege-escalation in UsersEdit (roles synced from the browser let an operator grant itself admin), a hard-coded seeded super admin credential (admin@laravel / admin, recreated by every rpd:make), and two stored XSS issues in x-rpd::select-list and x-rpd::rich-text (the latter now sanitized via rapyd_clean_html() / HTMLPurifier).

DescriptionCVE.org

Rapyd Admin from 9.0.0 before 9.20.0 contains an authorization bypass vulnerability that allows authenticated company members with the default customer role to modify or delete arbitrary user accounts through the UsersModalEditEmbed Livewire component. Attackers can dispatch editUser or deleteUser with predictable sequential user ids to reset owner or super admin passwords, promote themselves to owner, and delete users.

Executive ViewAI

Why It Matters

Rapyd Admin versions 9.0.0 through 9.19.x allow a low-privileged logged-in user to take over owner or super admin accounts, enabling password resets, privilege escalation, and user deletion. Because public self-registration is open, any external party can obtain the required default customer role and attempt account takeover, potentially leading to full platform compromise, data loss, or fraud. No public exploit identified at time of analysis, but leadership should prioritize upgrading to the vendor fix and auditing for unauthorized privileged account changes.
