Exploitation Conditions

Exploitation requires (1) the Productive Commerce plugin installed and active at a version before 1.1.49, and (2) the attacker possessing any authenticated account on the site - even the lowest 'subscriber' role suffices (PR:L). The specific enabling defect is twofold: the vulnerable AJAX action omits a capability check, and the nonce that is supposed to guard it is rendered on every admin-area page, so any logged-in user can retrieve it. Limiting factors: an account is mandatory (not anonymous/unauthenticated), so sites that disable open user registration substantially reduce exposure; impact is bounded to activating plugins that are ALREADY installed on the site (the attacker cannot upload new plugins via this flaw alone).

Impact

This is a moderate, authenticated authorization flaw (CWE-862 Missing Authorization) rather than a top-priority emergency. The supplied CVSS:3.1 vector (AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:L/A:N = 4.3 Medium) is internally consistent with the description: network reachable, low complexity, but requires an existing low-privilege account (PR:L, e.g. a subscriber) and yields only limited integrity impact (I:L) with no confidentiality or availability loss. Publicly available exploit code exists (reported by WPScan), which raises practical risk, but there is NO CISA KEV listing and NO EPSS score was provided, so there is no evidence of active or widespread exploitation - the POC signal and the absence of KEV are not in conflict, they simply indicate exploitability is proven while real-world exploitation is unconfirmed. The main caveat: the impact ceiling may exceed I:L in practice, because the ability for a subscriber to activate arbitrary already-installed plugins can be chained (activating a vulnerable or attacker-staged plugin could escalate toward code execution), so treat I:L as a conservative floor. Key limiter is that exploitation requires a pre-existing authenticated account on the target site.

Exploit ScenarioDerived

An attacker registers or already holds a low-privilege WordPress account (such as a subscriber) on a site running Productive Commerce before 1.1.49. Because the guarding nonce is exposed on every admin-area page and the AJAX handler performs no capability check, the attacker reads the nonce and replays the AJAX request to activate an arbitrary plugin already installed on the site. A public proof-of-concept for this flow exists via WPScan, making exploitation straightforward.

Alert me

AnalysisAIv1 – Oct 21, 2026

Authenticated subscribers on WordPress sites running the Productive Commerce plugin before 1.1.49 can activate any plugin already installed on the site, because one of its AJAX actions omits a capability check and the nonce meant to guard it is exposed on every admin-area page. The flaw is a moderate, integrity-only authorization issue (CVSS 4.3, AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:L/A:N) that requires a logged-in account and cannot be used to upload new plugins. Publicly available exploit code exists, and the vendor has released version 1.1.49 to address it.

RemediationAI

Update the Productive Commerce plugin to version 1.1.49 or later, which the vendor has released to correct the missing capability check; verify the installed version in the WordPress plugins screen and confirm the AJAX action now enforces a capability check. Where an immediate upgrade is not possible, reduce exposure by closing open user registration and auditing subscriber accounts, since any authenticated account can retrieve the nonce and invoke the action; note that this does not remove the flaw and site membership workflows may be affected. Alternatively, deactivate the Productive Commerce plugin until patched, accepting loss of its functionality, and review the active plugin list for unauthorized changes. Technical ContextAI · show details

Productive Commerce is a WordPress plugin whose AJAX handler for plugin activation performs no current_user_can() capability check, the root cause class CWE-862 (Missing Authorization). WordPress nonces are intended to prevent cross-site request forgery but are not an authorization control; here the nonce that guards the vulnerable AJAX action is rendered on every admin-area page and is therefore retrievable by any logged-in user, including a subscriber. The CPE entry records the product as productive_commerce under an unknown vendor namespace, and EUVD lists affected versions as 0 through <1.1.49. Because the action only toggles activation state of plugins already present on the filesystem, the impact is bounded to integrity changes in the site's active plugin set rather than code upload or data disclosure.

DescriptionCVE.org

The Productive Commerce WordPress plugin before 1.1.49 does not perform a capability check in one of its AJAX actions and exposes the nonce that guards it on every admin-area page, allowing any authenticated user such as a subscriber to activate arbitrary Productive Commerce WordPress plugin before 1.1.49 already installed on the site.
