| Exploitation Conditions | Requires an authenticated Satellite/Katello account that already holds permission to view flatpak remotes in at least one organization (PR:L), and a multi-organization deployment where another organization has configured Flatpak remote repositories with stored remote credentials. Exploitation is limited by: the attacker needing a valid account with the flatpak-remote view permission; the Flatpak remote repository feature actually being in use; a multi-tenant (multiple organization) configuration; and, for the credential-reuse path, the user having edit rights to a product in which to create the mirrored repository. Single-organization deployments and instances not using Flatpak remotes are not exposed. |
| Impact | This is a moderate-severity, authenticated authorization flaw (CWE-639, insecure direct object reference) and should be treated as a medium-priority patch rather than an emergency. The vendor-supplied CVSS vector (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:L/A:N, base 5.4) indicates network-reachable exploitation over the Katello/Satellite API with low attack complexity and no user interaction, but it explicitly requires an authenticated account (PR:L) - specifically a user already holding permission to view flatpak remotes in at least one organization. Exploitation status is 'no public exploit identified at time of analysis': this CVE is not in CISA KEV, no POC is referenced, and no EPSS score was provided in the input, so there is no signal of active or widespread exploitation. The signals are internally consistent - a cross-tenant isolation bug in a multi-org enterprise product is a classic insider/tenant-boundary risk rather than an internet-wide mass-exploitation target - but the real aggravating factor is data sensitivity: beyond cross-organization information disclosure, the same unscoped lookup lets the mirror action reuse ANOTHER organization's stored remote credentials, which the base C:L rating arguably understates. EPSS is absent, so probability of exploitation cannot be quantified; verify against the Red Hat advisory for an authoritative score. |
| Exploit ScenarioDerived | In a multi-organization Red Hat Satellite deployment, a user who has only low-privilege flatpak-remote permissions in Organization A authenticates to the Flatpak Remote Repositories API and references a repository by identifier that actually belongs to Organization B, retrieving its remote repository details. They then invoke the mirror action to create a repository in a product they can edit, which is silently configured with Organization B's flatpak remote URL and stored remote credentials. No public exploit code is identified, but the attack is trivial to script given valid credentials and knowledge or enumeration of a target identifier. |

Alert meAnalysisAIv1 – Oct 08, 2026
An authorization flaw in Katello's Flatpak Remote Repositories API allows an authenticated user who is permitted to view flatpak remotes in one organization to retrieve flatpak remote repository records - including the stored credentials for that remote - belonging to a different organization. The same unscoped lookup is reused by the mirror action, so a user with edit rights on a product in their own organization can create a repository configured with another organization's flatpak remote URL and its stored remote credentials. Exploitation requires an authenticated account holding the flatpak-remote view permission, the flatpak remote feature to be in active use, and a multi-organization Red Hat Satellite 6 / Katello deployment; no public exploit code has been identified at time of analysis, and the flaw is a medium-priority authenticated authorization issue rather than an emergency.
RemediationAI
No fixed release version is stated in the supplied intelligence, so the primary action is to check the Red Hat advisory for CVE-2026-107445 at https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/CVE-2026-107445 and the linked Bugzilla entry https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2547766, and apply the vendor erratum for Red Hat Satellite 6 (and any Katello-based product such as Red Hat Hardened Images) as soon as it is published - the status is therefore best described as patch status not confirmed in the available data rather than 'no patch exists'. Until the errata is applied, the most effective compensating control is to remove the flatpak remote view and product-edit permissions from roles that do not strictly need them, which directly blocks the PR:L prerequisite; the trade-off is that legitimate content managers lose the ability to browse or mirror flatpak remotes. Where flatpak remotes are not in active use, disable or delete the configured flatpak remote repositories entirely, which removes the target objects and any stored credentials - at the cost of losing that content source. For deployments that must keep the feature, avoid storing long-lived upstream credentials on flatpak remotes in organizations that share a Satellite instance with untrusted tenants, and instead use narrowly scoped, revocable service tokens so that any credential leakage has minimal blast radius; heavier isolation (separate Satellite instances per tenant) is the trade-off-heavy but fully effective option. Also review any flatpak remote repository records created recently in products by non-admin users to detect the mirror-action path, and audit Katello/Satellite API logs for flatpak remote lookups by users whose organization does not own the referenced remote.

Technical ContextAI · show details
Katello is the content, subscription and lifecycle-management plugin for Foreman that provides the management layer behind Red Hat Satellite 6; the CPE mapping in this report identifies cpe:2.3:a:red_hat:red_hat_satellite_6 and cpe:2.3:a:red_hat:red_hat_hardened_images as the affected products. Katello is a multi-tenant Rails application in which almost every object - product, repository, lifecycle environment, and flatpak remote - is owned by an Organization, and controllers are expected to scope every lookup through the caller's organization membership. CVE-2026-107445 is root-caused in CWE-639 (Authorization Bypass Through User-Controlled Key): the Flatpak Remote Repositories API resolves a remote repository directly by its identifier without constraining the query to the organizations the caller belongs to, so a valid record in a foreign organization is returned instead of a 404/403. Because the mirror operation shares that same unscoped finder, the defect is not read-only: the resulting mirror action can instantiate a repository inside a product the attacker can edit that is pointed at the victim organization's flatpak remote URL and inherits its stored remote credentials, allowing the attacker to consume or observe those credentials through an object under their control. The low CIA impact scores and PR:L vector reflect that the attacker must already be a legitimate, permissioned tenant user, and that the exposure is confidentiality-driven (foreign remote metadata and credentials) with a limited integrity effect from the created mirror.

API is network-reachable with low complexity (AV:N/AC:L); a permissioned but low-privilege account is required (PR:L); cross-org data and credential disclosure give C:L and the rogue mirror repository gives I:L, with no availability impact.

DescriptionCVE.org
A flaw was found in Katello where the Flatpak Remote Repositories API does not properly enforce authorization when accessing a flatpak remote repository by identifier. An authenticated user with permission to view flatpak remotes in one organization may be able to access flatpak remote repository information belonging to another organization. The same unscoped lookup is used by the mirror action, which may allow creating a repository in a product the user can edit that is configured with another organization's flatpak remote URL and stored remote credentials.
