| Exploitation Conditions | Requires a valid authenticated account - administrator or member - in any workspace on a multi-tenant Plane instance running a version prior to 1.4.0 (PR:L per CVSS, so not unauthenticated). The attacker must additionally know or obtain the target estimate point's UUID, which is a random 128-bit identifier not enumerable through this endpoint, so it must be acquired out-of-band; this is the primary factor limiting opportunistic exploitation. Exploitation requires no special non-default configuration and no user interaction, but is only meaningful on shared deployments hosting more than one workspace/tenant - single-tenant self-hosted installs have no cross-tenant victim to target. |
| Impact | This is a genuine, moderate-to-high operational concern in multi-tenant Plane deployments but not a drop-everything emergency. The CVSS 3.1 vector (AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:H/A:L, base 7.1) indicates network-reachable, low-complexity exploitation by an already-authenticated low-privileged user, with high integrity impact (destructive cross-tenant deletion) and no confidentiality impact - consistent with the CWE-639 (authorization bypass through user-controlled key / IDOR) classification and the description. Exploitation status: no public exploit identified at time of analysis; however, the fix commit and PR #9286 publicly disclose the exact vulnerable code path (bare primary-key lookup in BulkEstimatePointEndpoint.destroy), which materially lowers the bar for writing a working exploit. No EPSS score was provided and the vulnerability is not in CISA KEV, so there is no evidence of active or widespread exploitation, and no SSVC decision data was supplied. The key limiting factor not fully reflected in the raw CVSS score is that the attacker must know the 128-bit UUID of the victim workspace's estimate point, which is not enumerable via this endpoint - making opportunistic, automatable mass-exploitation unlikely and pushing real-world risk toward targeted/insider scenarios rather than internet-wide spraying. Net: prioritize patching for any shared/hosted Plane instance serving multiple tenants, but genuine risk is lower than the 7.1 suggests for single-tenant self-hosted installs. |
| Exploit ScenarioDerived | An authenticated administrator or ordinary member of Workspace A on a shared Plane instance obtains (out-of-band) the UUID of an estimate point belonging to Workspace B. They issue a DELETE request to the bulk estimate point destroy endpoint under their own workspace's URL, supplying the foreign UUID; because the pre-1.4.0 code resolves the object by bare primary key without workspace/project/estimate scoping, the victim tenant's estimate point is permanently deleted. No public exploit is identified, though the fix diff openly reveals the vulnerable lookup; low attack complexity means a working request is trivial to craft once the target UUID is known. |

Alert meAnalysisAIv1 – Oct 05, 2026
Cross-tenant deletion of estimate points in Plane (Makeplane) before 1.4.0 allows any authenticated user holding an administrator or member role in one workspace to permanently destroy an estimate point owned by a different workspace, simply by supplying the victim record's UUID in a URL scoped to the attacker's own workspace. The flaw is a destructive cross-tenant IDOR (CWE-639) rated CVSS 7.1 (AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:H/A:L), requiring only a valid low-privilege account and knowledge of the target's random 128-bit UUID, which must be obtained out-of-band since it is not enumerable through this endpoint. No public exploit code or confirmed active exploitation was identified at time of analysis; the operational risk is moderate-to-high specifically for multi-tenant Plane deployments, while single-tenant installs have no cross-tenant victim.
RemediationAI
Upgrade to Plane 1.4.0 or later - vendor-released patch: 1.4.0 (release tag v1.4.0, commit 971c2aadb4e848d70676b4f58b94bc7992dfe5fc, via PR #9286); see the advisory at https://github.com/makeplane/plane/security/advisories/GHSA-7mr3-6cgx-3j95. No configuration flag, feature toggle, or in-product workaround exists for this endpoint, so patching is the only complete fix. Where an immediate upgrade is not possible, compensating controls must address the prerequisite rather than the flaw: because exploitation requires a valid authenticated account (PR:L) plus out-of-band knowledge of the victim estimate point's non-enumerable random UUID, restrict workspace membership and invitation issuance to trusted identities, audit and revoke unused accounts, and monitor API logs for DELETE requests to /workspaces/{slug}/projects/{project_id}/estimates/{estimate_id}/estimate-points/{estimate_point_id}/ where the estimate_point_id does not belong to the addressed project. These are detection and blast-radius reductions only - they do not eliminate the authorization gap, and the trade-off is that tightening membership can impede legitimate cross-team collaboration on shared Plane instances; the residual risk is acceptable only for single-tenant self-hosted installs that host no second workspace.

Technical ContextAI · show details
Plane is an open-source project management platform built on Django REST Framework, and the affected code lives in apps/api/plane/app/views/estimate/base.py in the BulkEstimatePointEndpoint view class. In versions prior to 1.4.0, the destroy() handler resolved the target object with EstimatePoint.objects.filter(pk=estimate_point_id).first() - a bare primary-key lookup with no filter on estimate_id, project_id, or workspace__slug. Because URL routing supplies the attacker's own workspace slug and project/estimate identifiers while the deleted object is selected purely by the client-supplied primary key, the authorization check is effectively bypassed: the object is fetched from the global table rather than from the caller's tenant scope. This is the classic CWE-639 pattern, Authorization Bypass Through User-Controlled Key. The upstream fix (PR #9286, commit 971c2aadb4e848d70676b4f58b94bc7992dfe5fc) adds workspace__slug=slug, project_id=project_id, and estimate_id=estimate_id to the lookup, returns HTTP 404 when no scoped row matches, and additionally hardens the create() path by verifying the parent Estimate belongs to the requesting workspace and project before allowing a new point to be created. The CPE cpe:2.3:a:makeplane:plane:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:* covers all releases below the fixed 1.4.0 tag.

2DescriptionCVE.org
Plane is an open-source project management tool. Prior to 1.4.0, BulkEstimatePointEndpoint.destroy resolves an estimate point through a bare primary-key lookup without workspace, project, or estimate scoping. An administrator or member of one workspace can permanently delete an estimate point belonging to another workspace by supplying the target UUID in a URL under the attacker's own workspace. This creates a destructive cross-tenant IDOR. This issue is fixed in 1.4.0.

Executive ViewAI
Plane (Makeplane) deployments running versions prior to 1.4.0 are exposed to a cross-tenant authorization flaw that allows an authenticated user with a member or administrator role in one workspace to permanently delete estimate points belonging to a different workspace. Multi-tenant operators carry the real exposure: a single low-privilege account plus knowledge of a target record identifier is enough to cause irreversible cross-customer data loss, with the associated customer trust, contractual, and audit consequences; single-tenant installations have no cross-tenant victim and are effectively out of scope. No vendor-released patch was identified at time of analysis, so leadership should expect to manage this through access restrictions, monitoring, and recovery readiness rather than a simple upgrade.
No vendor-released patch identified at time of analysis. Interim mitigations: restrict estimate point creation/deletion to a minimal set of trusted roles and revoke member-level access to the estimates module where feasible; disable the estimates feature entirely on multi-tenant instances if it is not business-critical; reduce tenant co-location or isolate exposed tenants; enable and monitor audit logging for cross-workspace deletion attempts; take frequent backups of estimate data to bound destructive loss; and avoid exposing record UUIDs to untrusted users.
