The technique list with ATT&CK links and the kill-chain view is part of the Basic plan and up.

Exploitation Conditions

Requires (1) an authenticated session at minimum Subscriber level - so sites that disable open registration greatly reduce exposure - and (2) that an administrator has previously run the Easy HTTPS Redirection (SSL) plugin's content scanner, since the collected URLs from private/draft posts and site options must exist before they can be read or rewritten. The vulnerable code paths are specific plugin AJAX actions that omit capability checks. No user interaction from a victim is needed (UI:N), but the dependency on a prior administrator-triggered scan is why complexity is high (AC:H) and why opportunistic mass exploitation is unlikely. Fixed in version 2.0.2.

Impact

This is a genuine but modest-priority issue, not a high-severity emergency. The CVSS 3.1 base score of 4.2 (AV:N/AC:H/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:L/A:N) is consistent with the description: remotely reachable but gated behind authentication (PR:L) and a meaningful precondition (AC:H). The flaw is CWE-862 Missing Authorization - some AJAX actions skip capability checks, so a low-privilege Subscriber can read scanner-collected URLs and trigger a site-wide URL rewrite. POC/exploit code is publicly available (WPScan), which raises practical exploitability, but the CVE is NOT on CISA KEV and no EPSS score was provided in the input, so there is no evidence of active or widespread exploitation - treat POC availability and active exploitation as distinct signals. No SSVC decision data was supplied. Two conditions sharply limit real-world risk: the attacker needs a valid authenticated account (at least Subscriber), and an administrator must already have run the plugin's content scanner before the data exists to read or rewrite. On sites that disallow open registration, the authenticated-user prerequisite alone significantly narrows the attack surface. Net: real and worth patching, but low urgency relative to unauthenticated RCE-class issues.

Exploit ScenarioDerived

On a WordPress site that permits user registration, an attacker registers a Subscriber-level account and calls the plugin's unprotected AJAX actions. Because capability checks are missing, they retrieve URLs the content scanner harvested from private and draft posts plus site options, and can invoke the site-wide URL rewrite. Public exploit code for this flaw is available via WPScan, lowering the barrier to abuse, though exploitation only works after an administrator has run a scan.

AnalysisAIv1 – Oct 15, 2026

Missing capability checks in the Easy HTTPS Redirection (SSL) WordPress plugin before 2.0.2 allow any authenticated user - a Subscriber is sufficient per the CVSS vector (PR:L, authenticated) - to invoke plugin AJAX actions that read the URLs its content scanner collected from private and draft posts and from site options, and to trigger a site-wide rewrite of those URLs. Exploitation is conditional rather than opportunistic: the attacker needs a low-privileged account on the site, and an administrator must have already run the plugin's content scanner so that the harvested URL set exists, which is what drives the High attack complexity (AC:H) in the CVSS 4.2 score. Publicly available exploit code exists and the issue is fixed in version 2.0.2, but it is not listed in CISA KEV, and the exposure is meaningfully reduced on sites that disable open registration. This is a genuine but modest-priority issue, not a high-severity emergency.

RemediationAI

Upgrade the Easy HTTPS Redirection (SSL) WordPress plugin to version 2.0.2 or later, which is the vendor-released fix for the missing capability checks; patch availability is confirmed and version 2.0.2 is the exact fixed release. If immediate patching is not possible, reduce exposure by disabling or tightly restricting user registration and pruning unnecessary Subscriber-level accounts, since the flaw requires an authenticated session - the trade-off is that this breaks legitimate low-privilege membership workflows. Administrators can also refrain from running the plugin's content scanner until patched, because the vulnerable actions only expose URLs that a prior scan collected; the trade-off is that the plugin's HTTPS rewrite-rule generation feature will not be repopulated. As a further compensating control, block or rate-limit requests to the plugin's specific admin-ajax.php actions with a WAF or reverse-proxy rule; this carries the risk of breaking the plugin's own legitimate AJAX functionality if the rules are over-broad. Deactivating the plugin entirely removes the attack surface but, as a side effect, stops the site from applying its HTTPS redirection rules. Technical ContextAI · show details

The root cause is CWE-862 (Missing Authorization): specific AJAX handlers in the Easy HTTPS Redirection (SSL) plugin are registered through WordPress's standard admin-ajax.php action mechanism but never call a capability check such as current_user_can(), so the plugin's own privilege model is not enforced on those actions. The plugin maintains a content scanner that walks the site and records URLs - including ones originating from private and draft posts and from site options - in order to build the HTTPS rewrite rules it applies. The affected AJAX endpoints expose that collected dataset for reading and allow the caller to trigger a site-wide rewrite of the stored URLs. Because the endpoints are reachable by any logged-in user via a network request (AV:N) with only low privileges required (PR:L) and no victim interaction (UI:N), the missing authorization is directly exploitable by a Subscriber-level account; the confidentiality and integrity impacts are both rated Low (C:L/I:L) since leaked data is limited to scanner-collected URLs and the rewrite affects redirect URL configuration rather than arbitrary content. The CPE record, cpe:2.3:a:unknown:easy_https_redirection_(ssl):*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*, maps to the WordPress plugin but carries an unassigned vendor field, so version-based identification (below 2.0.2) is the reliable means of matching affected installs. The High attack complexity score reflects the operational precondition that an administrator must first have run the scanner; without a populated scanner dataset there is nothing to read or rewrite. The vulnerability was reported through WPScan.

DescriptionCVE.org

The Easy HTTPS Redirection (SSL) WordPress plugin before 2.0.2 does not perform capability checks in some of its AJAX actions, allowing any authenticated user, such as a Subscriber, to read URLs its content scanner collected from private and draft posts and from site options, and to trigger a site-wide rewrite of those URLs, once an administrator has run a scan.
