Sylius versions before 1.12.25, 1.13.17, 1.14.20, 2.1.16, and 2.2.9 build administrator password-reset links using the request Host header without validation, allowing unauthenticated attackers to redirect reset tokens to attacker-controlled domains. Attackers can request password resets for known administrator email addresses with forged Host headers to intercept valid reset tokens and take over administrator accounts.

AnalysisAI
Administrator password-reset links in Sylius are built from the unvalidated request Host header, so an unauthenticated attacker who knows an administrator's email address can send a single request to /admin/forgotten-password (or POST /api/v2/admin/administrators/reset-password) with a forged Host or X-Forwarded-Host header and cause the reset-token link in the generated email to point at an attacker-controlled domain. If the targeted administrator then clicks the poisoned link, the attacker captures a valid reset token and can take over the administrator account, yielding high impact on confidentiality, integrity and availability (assessed CVSS:3.1 8.7, AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R). …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Requires: (1) knowledge of a valid administrator email address; (2) ability to send a single unauthenticated request to /admin/forgotten-password or POST /api/v2/admin/administrators/reset-password with a forged Host or X-Forwarded-Host header; and (3) the targeted administrator subsequently clicking the poisoned link in the reset email (UI:P/UI:R). … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | This is a genuine high-priority vulnerability, not a high-CVSS-but-low-risk paper cut. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | Vendor-released patch: upgrade to Sylius 1.12.25, 1.13.17, 1.14.20, 2.1.16 or 2.2.9 depending on your release line, which contains the fix (commit 1255d75b20d3d88a5e5c8d46791504134c838480, PR 19215) that rebuilds the reset URL in PHP from the channel's database-configured hostname instead of the request Host header; full details are in the GitHub advisory GHSA-77w3-2367-7xvq and the v2.2.9 release notes. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
Recommended ActionAI
Within 24 hours, enforce Symfony trusted_hosts with an explicit allowlist of legitimate hostnames and configure the reverse proxy or load balancer (nginx, HAProxy, cloud LB) to reject or normalize untrusted Host and X-Forwarded-Host headers, then verify by sending test requests with forged Host values to /admin/forgotten-password and POST /api/v2/admin/administrators/reset-password to confirm the reset email link no longer points to the attacker-supplied domain. …
