| Exploitation Conditions | Exploitation targets the templates/progress/clientside/restoreprogress.sgp endpoint of Vembu BDRSuite versions before 7.6.0, where the request parameters mn, rnm, isRepliRestore, rusr, and rpwd are reflected into the HTML response without sanitization. No authentication is required to craft the request (PR:N), but exploitation is gated by required user interaction: a BDRSuite interface user must open the attacker-crafted link (UI:A) for the payload to execute. Impact is limited to the victim's browser context (session hijacking, interface manipulation) rather than the server, and installations updated to 7.6.0 or later are not affected. |
| Impact | This is a moderate, not high-priority, issue. The supplied CVSS 4.0 vector (AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:A) scores 5.1 (medium): network-reachable and unauthenticated (PR:N), but it explicitly requires active user interaction (UI:A) - a victim must open an attacker-crafted link - and the impact is confined to the subsequent (browser) system as SC:L/SI:L with no impact on the vulnerable server itself (VC:N/VI:N/VA:N). No EPSS score, no CISA KEV listing, and no SSVC decision framework were provided in the input; the only prioritization signal present is the vuln.today Decision label of 'this_month' (not act_now/emergency), which is consistent with a reflected XSS that needs social engineering to land. Public references exist (an independent research writeup on chocapikk.com and a VulnCheck advisory), so proof-of-concept detail is plausibly published, but the input does not mark any PoC as confirmed working exploit code. Net: real but bounded risk - a reflected XSS requiring a tricked user, appropriate for scheduled patching rather than emergency response. Missing data to note explicitly: no EPSS and no KEV status were supplied, so exploitation probability cannot be quantified from this input. |
| Exploit ScenarioDerived | An attacker crafts a URL to the BDRSuite restoreprogress.sgp endpoint with a malicious JavaScript payload placed in one of the reflected parameters (mn, rnm, isRepliRestore, rusr, or rpwd) and lures a BDRSuite console user into clicking it. Because the parameters are reflected into the HTML response without sanitization, the script executes in the victim's browser session, enabling session hijacking or manipulation of the backup-management interface. A public PoC reference exists; it is not verified as working exploit code, and successful exploitation depends on the victim opening the attacker-supplied link (UI:A). |

Alert meAnalysisAIv1 – Nov 03, 2026
Reflected cross-site scripting in Vembu BDRSuite's restore progress endpoint (templates/progress/clientside/restoreprogress.sgp) lets remote attackers inject arbitrary JavaScript into a victim's browser session via parameters such as mn, rnm, isRepliRestore, rusr and rpwd, which are echoed into the HTML response without sanitization. All deployments prior to 7.6.0 are affected; no authentication is required to craft the malicious URL, but a BDRSuite interface user must open the crafted link for the payload to run. Resulting impact is confined to the victim's browser context - session hijacking or interface manipulation - rather than the server; no public exploit code has been confirmed and this is rated a moderate, not high-priority, issue.
RemediationAI
Upgrade Vembu BDRSuite to 7.6.0 or later, the first release in which the restore progress template no longer reflects these parameters unsanitized; confirm the installed build against the vendor release notes at https://support.bdrshield.com/portal/en/kb/articles/release-notes. Until the upgrade is applied, the practical exposure reduction is to prevent untrusted links into the BDRSuite web interface: restrict network access to the BDRSuite console to trusted administrative segments and require users to navigate to the console directly rather than following links carrying mn, rnm, isRepliRestore, rusr or rpwd parameters. That restriction trades off convenience of remote console access and does not remove the underlying reflection flaw, so it should be treated as temporary until the 7.6.0 update is deployed.

Technical ContextAI · show details
The flaw is a classic CWE-79 reflected cross-site script: the server-side template templates/progress/clientside/restoreprogress.sgp in Vembu BDRSuite renders progress/restore UI state and interpolates request parameters (mn, rnm, isRepliRestore, rusr, rpwd) directly into the generated HTML without output encoding. Because the values are reflected in the response rather than stored, the payload lives in a link the attacker must convince a logged-in or interface-using victim to visit, which is why the assessed vector requires user interaction (UI:R) and the impact scope changes (S:C) while confidentiality and integrity effects stay low (C:L/I:L) and no server-side availability impact exists. The CVSS 4.0 vector supplied in the CVE record is consistent with this: network reachable, no privileges required, user action required, and only subsequent-system confidentiality/integrity impact. Exact parsing and rendering behavior for each parameter is not described in the available sources beyond the reflection itself.

Lifecycle Timeline
1DescriptionCVE.org
Vembu BDRSuite before 7.6.0 contains an unauthenticated cross-site scripting vulnerability in templates/progress/clientside/restoreprogress.sgp that allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary JavaScript by manipulating request parameters such as mn, rnm, isRepliRestore, rusr, and rpwd that are reflected unsanitized into the HTML response. Attackers can craft malicious links to execute arbitrary JavaScript in a victim's browser session, enabling session hijacking or interface manipulation.
